no CE light when the key is in on position so EFI circuit right?
fusible links are good. changed out efi relay and fuse is good.

Jon Held has posted up diagnostics for the 3FE EFI circuit. "If continuity here, then next check there..." etc. Not sure how much of it would apply to a 1FZ though...

Hang in there,

Curtis

thanks, i've been through that up till this bit...

"check for +12 on pin 8 (B+) on the check connector mounted on the right side of the firewall."

....not sure how to translate that to my 1fz diagnostic port.

What did you do prior to it not starting? Any repairs? Electrical work?

I don't have access to a schemo for a later truck. Do you have a EWD of your truck?

The diag port has to have a +12 pin. I would ASSUME that it is the same source, but can't be sure without the schemos.

i've had most of the harness disconnected and the front of the
truck taken apart to build new shock towers. i disconnected the
ecu, battery etc before i did the welding on the shock towers.
i've also done a bunch of PM before putting everything back
together or at least what i thought was "all" back together....

don't have one but will be getting my mitts on one soon hopefully.
more info - i jumped the 2 and 4 pin of the efi relay and that has
gotten me a CEL and fuel at the return line but no start (no spark)...

ok this is getting really strange. i was checking fusible links again and i noticed the
headlights don't work. (i don't know if they ever worked because i only drove the car
for four hours before i started in on it) so any way i get in and hit the brights to see
if that helps and guess what, with the brights switch on the efi circuit powers up and
cel comes on....

W. T. F.

now it still won't start (no spark) but what is going on. does that make any sense to
anyone, the bright switch powering up the efi circuit.....

With you having done all that work on the truck, I would assume you missed something. The EFI circuit appears not to function because you're still a "no spark". Do the later model trucks have the +12 terminal in the fuse box? That would be a logical place to start.

You manually jumped the EFI relay and that gave you nothing so the ECU/distributor/coil/igniter are now suspect. However, the truck WAS running before you did what you did. I would go back over everything.
