3fe o2 questions

Been getting inconsistant mileage and a rough idle accasionally and decided to replace my o2 since I think they're OE at 178k.
My question is denso shows a left and right and the right is double the price, but bosch shows twin sensors. Any idea what I need to buy? You can save the the "mr t only" remarks.

oxygensensors.com has denso oe sensors. I think I paid 165.00 or so for the pair when I replaced mine. They had bosch or walker also for cheaper prices. They are two diff part numbers one is for pre cat (1,2,3 cyl) and the other post cat (4,5,6). There are different wiring connectors on each. The OE denso sensors will require no wire splicing...

They were the best price you will find on oe, plug and play, and have performed great. The only problems I had was getting the old rusted nuts off the old flange studs..use some heat.

When the dealer did mine for FREE . . . .

they busted both of the sections of pipe where the O2 sensors mount.

The 1995 service statement shows that those 2 pipes, Part #s 17401-61210 (#1 A-Pipe) & 17401-61010 (#2 A-Pipe) were $117.87 @ at that time. Looks like there were also 4 gaskets, ~$20.

You might want to read my post in the 60s Forum: FJ62 Owner's O2 Alert

I'd guess the price on the parts may have gone up in the 13 years since then. Just remember my exhaust was only 7 years old in 95. Yours is now what, 17? You might want to read any posts here & on the Yahoo 3FE Group regarding how to do this w/out busting any rusted pipes available only from Uncle T. Maybe your local Dealership Parts Mgr. could tell you how long it will take to get those pipes in stock. Should give you plenty of time to make up a good story on why you didn't want to spend any coin on OEM O2 sensors with him, or CDan, in the first place.

Good luck getting them out. Keep your fingers crossed replacing them will solve your inconsistant mileage and occasional rough idle.

Those two down pipes are now very expensive from toyota. If you have problems, just cut out and weld in new o2 flanges. Had to do this to one of my rigs in the past. Welded in new toyota flanges w the studs for 40$ parts and labor. If you are going non oem you can weld in the universal screw in flanges. My exhaust guy was able to find the toyota flanges locally and cheap.

Good Luck...

My pipes are in good shape, I have a torche and pb blast. I am unconcerned about removing them. In Idaho, rust really isn't as much of a problem as other places. We are so dry here that things just last longer.

Thanx for the tips, I'll check out oxygensensors.com
