The I have a 93-94 and want a supercharger thread

This thread will pertain to how previous installs of the TRD supercharger on a 93-94 truck were done. It will also discuss how it could be done.

I know that there are remarks on various threads about this subject on the board but lets put it all together in one thread!

Discuss

Been there, done that, drive it every day.

Install it like you would a 95-97 and either relocate the PAIR valve or block off the manifolds and get it some extra fuel so it won't knock.

My solution for the knock: http://forum.ih8mud.com/80-series-te...induction.html

Dan-
Did you relocate or remove the pair valve. I get the feeling that the people doing visual inspection here for emissons dont know or look for the pair valve. I would think removal is the easier and less expensive route.

For your water/methanol injection, did you start with water and switch to methanol for any particular reason?

I relocated my PAIR. The truck runs the same with or without. I have run it both ways. I have always used a 50/50 blend of methanol/distilled water. it cools better than plain water and it does burn so there is a bit of a fuel boost. In addition it does not freeze in the winter... That last part is kinda important.

Any other solutions for the knocking problem out there?

I've got one in the back of my head and just recently have access to a fellow mudders 80 for verification. But don't hold your breath as I have other things in the works as well. The basic idea is to augment the VAF sample size to match larger injectors. This sounds kind of out there but it is exactly how Toyota dealt with Turbo charging engines back in this era. The end result, if successful, would be accurate fueling through out the operating range of a boosted engine for the 93/94 guys.

In addition to Rick's angle some folks have used a rising-rate fuel pressure regultor and some others have installed a twin turbo Supra fuel pump. Some have done a combination of both. I think that some sort of additional injector, such as the cold-start injectors Toyota used on very early EFI motors, would also work.

The trick is to get it to come online at the proper time and flow the proper ammount of fuel.
