Okay...who is the copycat in Los Gatos, CA?

I was in Los Gatos a few weeks back and snapped these photos of a mystery rig that looks very familiar.

No plates.

Who owns this fine piece of machinery?

Looks like George Scolaro's truck. (George of the Dome lights and other cool mods fame). Actually, I think his wife usually drives it.

I was thinking the same thing. The white color is indicitive of a marine application.

I have a Lowrance unit in my boat that has that same antennae. Just kinda curious why he didn't put it on the roof.

Gotta be his wife - no self respecting man would leave it parked like that.

So, I've been staring at it for a couple minutes with no answer. Anybody figure out why he's got that padded section on his ARB above the driver's section? Best spot to hang off for a field toilet? I love seeing personalized little stuff on people's rigs and trying to figure out what/why.

My guess is that it is there to protect it from the business end of the hi-lift jack that gets mounted there. But I easily could be wrong.

At Moab Cal had his hi-lift mounted on the rear tyre. He has a Kaymar bumper and the Kaymar hi-lift attachment that goes on the rear tyre carrier.

HAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHA, I just realized something as I started reading this thread. We were visiting some friends out in Napa a few weeks ago. On the way there went to go visit the FJ60 that I STILL DONT HAVE!!!! While there Georg at ValleyHybrids tells me that if I am going to Napa, that I should stop over in Petaluma for the Landcruiser Swap Meet. So we skipped going to some wineries with the wife and son and instead went to Petaluma. While there we saw a lot of 80s that we really liked the look of. Everything from equipment to lifts to armor, what have you. So my wife points out this 80 in particular. She says, "This is my favorite! Honey this is what I want on our Pink Panty Mobile". So I snapped a few shots of it thinking, ok I'll do some research and take a look at what is there and then "emulate" or rather "benchmark" the look.

That Truck?

Nice compliments. She looks even better without the arial snapped off and fender flare smashed.

Thanks.

BTW, imitation is the highest form of flattery.

Thats pretty much how I'm looking at it. We saw a Slee Short Bus bumper and I FELL IN LOVE with it. I wanted it then and there. My wife takes a look at it...

Wife: "That's not going to scare anyone".

Me: "What are you talking about?!"

Wife: "No one is going to move over for that".

Me: "What are you talking about?!"

Wife: "On the freeway, I want a big cattle catcher so that when I go barreling down the 101 or 405, people get out of my way"

Me: "You need help honey".

So the Royal "WE" decided that the ARB is better.

If it means I finally get to get rid of this stupid damage multiplier I have, so be it. Now need to find a used or scratch/dented one from ARB.

That is how I ended up with a snorkle, "we" decided we wanted one, because they look cool on an 80.

locrwln1 & NLXTACY,

You are lucky men...

Are your wives available to talk to MY wife and convince her it is okay and even encouraged (in some circles) to have snorkles, ARB's, lifts, winches, etc!

My wife is pretty agreeable but hasn't yet okayed a lift for the LX or my snorkeling the Tacoma. Any help would be appreciated!

However, those are her only shortcommings!
