[quote=4xoddic;3511381]Make sure that it's spelled Waiver on that slip of paper they signed. You don't want Judge Judy to award your FJ80 to them.

I work on a college campus, have been there for 18 years now. My office looks right out on an access road to the main parking lot. It's a short road, but there are deep ditches on both sides, and large fields surround the road. In the winter during a storm the wind and snowplows fill the ditches so you can't see them. At least 2-3 times a year someone will misjudge the shoulder width and end up nose-down in one of those ditches.

I used to hop in my truck and run over and yank them out. I never charged, of course, and always declined if they tried to pay me. Sometimes the campus cops would show up to direct traffic. Then about 4 years ago when it happened, it was some painted up ricer car with all sorts of body panels and crap hanging on it. Low profile tires, dropped, you know the type. When I told the kid I wasn't responsible for any damage, he started giving me attitude. Then the cop started asking him a few questions, he really turned into an asshole. I tossed the strap into the back of my truck and told him to call a tow truck, and drove away. I've never done it since. It's not worth the risk, and there's no way I'd do such a thing without full liability insurance and a signed waiver.

And sometimes it's nice to make people pay a "stupid tax".

That van was sitting right outside my office. You can see the access road I was talking about behind the van. My truck is sitting just to the left, just out of frame. The lady driving that van drove AROUND the barriers that our Facilities people put out just to keep this from happening. The barriers had big DO NOT ENTER NO PARKING signs on them. So, not only did she get a ticket, she had to pay for a tow truck to pull her lazy ass out. And our Facilities people had to fix the ruts and plant more grass.

Excellent memory Curtis! Cody suggested the same thing a couple of years ago. He received similar "don't do it" advice in this thread: http://forum.ih8mud.com/80-series-te...-question.html

Sometimes you find yourself in the middle of nowhere. And sometimes in the middle of nowhere, you find yourself.

You want to stay with smaller tires to put more power to the ground.
I didnt say bigger tires make it easier to pull someone out i just said that wider tires give more surface are and therefore more traction, and that when going wider most of the time you go taller. thats just how it usually works obviously not always. just sayin...

you need a little running start before you hit the back of their car. a lot of cars in Provo have my winch imprinted on their trunks. newer cars dont push as well as they are more designed to absorb the pushing forces. good luck with this technique. don't stay around long after to accept thanks
hahahahah funny

  6. You collected beforehand; because, NOBODY likes to pay to be proven they could have gotten themselves out of a fix after the fact.
good advise here, not worth the hassle. I had a few winters on Mt. Hood and the only compensation I made was and and sometimes a fiver.
