Fixed the A pillar leak!

Just wanted to pass on some info. After struggling to find the source of my leak for about a year, I finally solved it. I had the classic dripping seam at the headliner on the a pillar. I tried all of the common mud fixes to no avail. I finally pulled the black rain gutter trim off all the way and chucked it. The gutter gets very small next to the windshield with the trim in place. There was tons of debris behind there, which gave the water no where to go. This caused rust to start underneath at the top part of the door frame, thus allowing water to leak in when it pooled. I applied a bit of silicon to the rusty areas (should have rustproofed but oh well) and tossed the gutter trim, and hooray nor more leaks. Just another thing to consider checking. I can get pics if anyone needs them.

i'm starting to think what you describe is a must fix for most of our leak issues.

I'll try and get some pics later today. Having a leaky trucj really annoyed me for a long time, definitely a satisfying fix.

no doubt. I also have a leak on the rear sliding glass. After a big rain the truck starts to smell nice and musty/mildewy

This photo shows where the rain gutter gets really thin on it's way down the a pillar. There was tons of crap behind the plastic trim, blocking water flow.

This one shows where I applied silicon. It's hard to see but it's directly above the grab handle in the picture. It's the area that looks matted. My guess was water was seeping in here, which is why it only leaked after it had been raining for awhile.
