Anyone seen a release date yet? Don't want to call my parts guy every week until it comes in and bother him...but I'm hot to trot for it.

How many bananas?

General question....how many bananas was the installation of the original TRD supercharger kit? Any special training or tools needed?

You will need a 30 mm socket, a 32 mm socket, a chain wrench and a torque wench that goes to 309 lb-ft.

Duh...crankshaft pulley has to come off of course. That should be anything but fun.

You dont have to remove the pulley, just the bolt. However it would probably be a good idea to change the crank seal since you are that close to it.

right vehicle

What would the minimum requirements for an 80 to be considered a good candidate for a SC. Example .....miles ,OEM head gasket( or not) ..........other considerations or things that should be checked out on the truck prior to considering a SC

I don't think anyone, unless they have a crystal ball, could answer this. And if you put a S/C on and the head gasket blew you just put on a new one. No biggie. Except that you don't just put the gasket under the hood and it finds its way to the correct location. Installation is a bit of a chore.

Last crank pulley bolt I had to take off...on Sunday...broke one screwdriver I used to lock it in place. Just bent the second one before letting go.

Last FZJ80 pulley/bolt I had to get off....uh yeah, ended up having the machine shop get it off for me it was so thoroughly stuck on!

Hope I have better luck next time!

3/4 inch drive breaker bar jammed against the inner RH frame rail. Bump the starter and it's done.

NOTE:
this is a potentially dangerous method and it's possible to break things and/or people in the process. DO NOT attempt it unless you are certain about what you are doing and do so ENTIRELY AT YOUR OWN RISK

I like the lawyer-like vernacular here...I live for danger cannot wait to try this!

Smart though, very smart indeed!

Can't help it.

I haven’t driven my truck for a month now. I took it a spin yesterday and wow…
It felt like a sport car.

When you tighten it has anyone ever just put a little light threadlocker on and just gotten the bolt good and tight? I just rebuilt a 1FZ last year, sold it to a forum member, he and I have put on over 30k since I did the rebuild and he's had no issues. If I recall I locked the crank on the engine stand from the rear, and just made it as tight as I could. I know that it was not the spec of what? 300 FT LBS?

309 lb-ft actually.

It's that high because the oil pump drive gear is not keyed to the crank, the pully clamps it in place. If it's not tight the gear will slip and you will lose oil pressure and power steering assist.

Ask Romer about this after his SC install. This needs to be where it ought to be.

Yup, my crankbolt was not properly torqued and when wheeling it loosened up on me and my power steering was almost gone. The oil pressure went low. Fortunately, I was avble to stop and get the right wrench on the way home to tighten it to bring my steering back full and return the oil pressure to normal. Got it properly torqued the next day.

I have two 80's that are in excellent condition. On my daughters 80, I just improved the exhaust system to a 3" pipe and new muffler, Landtank MAF and a few other items and it runs great. Still, nothing like jumpring behind the wheel of my supercharged truck.

Hopefully soon I will have that experience...jumping into a super charged 80...already bought LandTank's MAF and ordering the new sensor from CDan. I'll have so many goodies waiting for me back in the States that it will be like Christmas...

Anything yet on a release date???

I picked up my LX450 and I'm quite excited to begin force-feeding it!!!!

C-Dan, where did you pick up your 3/4 breaker bar? I got one at Sears for my early cruiser's crank pulley bolt but it's way too short to make it to the frame rail and don't feel like flagging down the Snap-On man!?

Go to the hardware store, get a piece of pipe and slid it over the end. A little race tape and you saved yourself a $100 bucks or more.

That's called a "cheater" by the way.

It does add a degree of "not quite right" to something that is already "not quite right"....

If one chooses to add a cheater to an already potentially dangerous tactic, please do excercise extreme caution.

OK.................

There are 48 kits available at the moment and 12 more in transit.

The published list price is $3,750.00. I will have them available for order for $3,299.00 plus the ride on Brown.

Hah...my parts guy in Chicago just checked and still nothing is showing up! Ugh!

And yeah I already thought about a cheater bar and too concluded that that was a very very VERY bad idea.

Dan...do you know how long it will take for the number to start showing up? My buddy says it's still "D" discontinued and no depot shows any in stock at the moment.

Tomorrow maybe??? I'd love to be putting this thing on over the weekend once I'm done at the E.R. for my broken wrist and arm from getting the crank pulley bolt off with your MacGyver method!!!

I know...sorry...but he checked to try to place an order and however he checks stock at the depot via the Toyo computers quantity available to him is currently zero. So what's a guy to do?

I want it so badly, probably more than Ralphie wanted his "official Red Rider bee bee gun with the combine stock and pump action handle" in A Christmas Story!!!!!

And I don't care if I'll shoot my eye out, need premium gas, climb tall mountains without needing to kill O.D., I wanna tow my boat at supersonic speeds uphill!!!!

Then why don't you order it from Dan, he told you he can get them. You do know he is the Parts manager at a Toyota Dealership don't you and he wouldn't post that unless he could get it. Call him at American Toyota
