A/C vent and Air horns

Yeah, two totally unrelated issues in one thread.

First issue: My passenger side vent decided to go wonky on me, the mechanism that opens and closes the vent doesn't work anymore. I can't figure out how to get the dash far enough apart to work on this vent?

Second issue: I recently installed a solenoid to control my air horns. It's a 12v unit with 3/8" NPT ports. Every 5-10 honks or so, it sticks in the open position, blasting the horns until I yank the hose or shut off the regulator. What gives?

So I emailed the seller about the solenoid, he says that because it's mounted sideways, it can stick.

I call BS on that, because even when it is mounted "right", i.e. not upside-down, it still sticks every few honks...

Figured out how to fix the air vent.

Pulled it out of the dash (thank you FSM), and found that the stopper on the mechanism used to open and close the vent had broken off, allowing the gears inside to come apart. I found a small wood screw, about the same size as the old stopper, ground it down to proper length, and screwed it in place of the old stopper. Works perfectly now!
