New Purchase '91 FJ80- First Post

Hi All,

I found my 80 about 2 weeks ago on Craigslist, bought it from the 2nd owner who was having some issues with it and just wanted it gone. Turns out it simply needed a new EFI Relay, I lucked out. Between then and now I found a used 2.5" OME lift and a set of 16"FZJ80 wheels with 33" tires.

I have always tried to read as much info on Mud as possible, I hope it will pay off. I am curious, do you fill the front and rear differential and center diff until they begin to spew gear oil out of the fill hole, or are you supposed to measure out the fluid before filling? Thanks in advance.

Sorry for the horrible pics.

Looks good, I have always filled until it came out of the hole on the axle diffs.

Looks like it has sliders or after-market steps. What brand?

welcome, clean looking rig. Yes fill till it starts coming out the fill hole. Get a pump you dont want to try to squeeze the bottle.

Thanks for the input. The running boards are made by DTA Corporation, and are labeled "Ultra-Board". I might pull them off, we'll see.

So from what was posted, I can fill the diffs until they gear oil starts to spill out. Does the same apply for the transfer case/center diff? Is there any risk of overfilling the transfer case and starting a leak? Thanks again for helping me with my newbie questions. I have searched high and low for an answer but have not found anything. Thanks again.

Fill F&R diffs and the transfer case until the gear oil comes out the fill hole.

Make sure you can get the plug out of the fill hole before you drain them.
