Relocating air filter inline with snorkel?

I'm trying to fit a york in without losing my ac and am having some clearance issues. My air box is slightly in the way. I could move it back, but was thinking it would be cool if there was a way to go to a different filter and mount it inline with a snorkel? Maybe exterior mounted? Anybody done this or have any ideas? It would have to be good for long distance dusty gravel roads.

You could ghetto fab something to work. Use a big filter sized for diesel Ford pickups....

I (personally) would not want my filter mounted exterior to the vehicle for a DD.

There's a filter that fits in the snorkel body at the top, looks like an air sock. IIRC it's Unifilter, import from OZ. Don't know that it's meant to be the ONLY filter.

im pretty sure they are pre filters to pick up the bigger particles and not meant to be used as a primary filter. at least i wouldnt.

When I ghetto fabbed my snorkel for the Terro I used a standard 3" i.d. ricer filter from O'Reillys. One day it started to rain, and I said....hmmmm, then I made a hat for it out of the bottom of a washer fluid gallon bottle. Wasnt pretty but it was functional.

Yes! Do you have any pics of the York mounts? Or, an explanation of how you plan to fit it.

Thanks, -Steve
