engine bogging when cold, high rpm power loss...

I've searched and found nothing really helpful yet, so here goes.

Issue #1: When cold (south FL, so cold is never below 60º) the engine sputters, but only under load, idle is perfect at startup. Very light throttle yields a smoother take off, but over 1/4 throttle, and it bogs for 3-5 seconds and then takes off like everything's fine. Runs perfectly after that, idles smoothly, etc. Intake hose looks fine, Red Line helps for a few weeks, but not a solution to the problem. New NGK plugs, wires/dizzy new in 2005.

Issue #2: There seems to be a huge power loss at higher RPM. Cruising at 2.5K RPM, with no kickdown, seems to have more power than after kickdown raises engine speed to 4K or so. At high RPM, it seems to almost have a miss, like an injector might not be up to snuff.

TIA for any useful comments.

Regardless of its age, your fuel filter could also be the culprit here.

Thx guys. I'd been reading about cleaning the fpr with the match book striker. Fuel filter is 2nd on the list, too (a little bit tougher than the fpr cleaning). The filter looks nice and shiny black, as opposed to its surroundings. That only tells me it's not the original filter.

I appreciate the input.

check the fuel filter in the tank.. the gas in florida has a red powder in it.. My tank was full of it. I had the same symptoms it would be o.k. then bog down.
