Alt rebuild ?

So I took the 80 to the ZONE.. had my charging system checked.. They told me I had a low end diode charging problem. So can you replace those ? I think it is a after market alt on there. A car repair shop replace it a few years ago. IIRC it had bad diodes in it then also.. Any suggestions?

I am going to get the rebuilt one from fleabay BNR rebuilders $114 ...
230 for oem is out of my range right now

You can get one from Checkers or NAPA with lifetime or 3 year warranty for a decent price. FYI.

But just to be on the safe side, take it out and have it checked by another shop if possible for a second opinion. ALTs can be rebuilt for a decent price locally if you have the luxury.
