disable the abs....

....or just hank it all.

i picked up an 80 last weekend for a baja project. right now i've
been stripping the truck down getting rid of all the excess weight
and simplifing were i can. i was planning on just disableing the abs
by pulling the fuse but i wonder now if i should just chuck it all.
five or ten pounds pulled out of a 5400 lb. rig is meaningles but
do it a 10 or 20 time it starts to make a difference. so what do
you think am i missing some major downside? do guys building
dedicated crawlers do this? please edgumacate me.

You need to talk to Beno. He removed the ABS from his rig.

curious, is it possible to simply disable the ABS? Pulling the ABS fuse doesn't work!

You wanna lose weight? Try chucking the seats - those bitches is heavy. If I could, I would replace mine with with aftermarket seats; however, mine is a dd and I have a soft ass.

I should've said, is there any way to extinguish the ABS light in the dash because pulling the fuse doesn't do it but it does kill the ABS. Sorry for the confusion.

Let me know before you chuck the ABS. I need a piece that I trashed on a wheeling trip last year. I haven't had ABS since. I need the part of the harness that runs in the driver side front control arm. I tore that up pretty good.

...

Note: I disabled my ABS by removing the sensors and pulling the fuse. The ABS light STILL came on. Since the light is based on a fault, you need to physically remove the indicator bulb if the ABS is disabled.
