New Idler Pulleys - Now she squeeks !
OK, I was lazy and had the indy install my new a/c and alt idler pulleys while I had him doing some other odds and ends. Got the truck back, and all was well. Later that day I noticed a squeek developing from something belt driven. The next day it was worse. Took it back to them. The fella pulled the a/c belt, and squeek was gone, so we knew it was from that area. Re-installed belt and squeek was gone. That was yesterday. Now squeek is back, but is intermittant. It happens with a/c on or off, and only at idle. All belts are about 20 months old, OE Toyota. Tech and I agree they look great.
Running out of ideas here. Should I just try another, new belt? Are some of these new idler pulleys bad? (Dan, I guess I should have bought it from you instead of the local guys, huh ?! Although pricing was the same.) No squeeks before the new idler pulley, so I am thinking we can rule out the a/c clutch and bearing. Any ideas appreciated. Try tightening the tension pully. It's easy to get to when you remove the skid [late. Tighten it a couple of turns and see if it makes a difference
