Air conditioning re-gas
I am having my air conditioning re gassed tomorrow, had it done last year about the same time, there is a sticker under the bonnet, whoops! "hood" sorry but we call it the bonnet, its so gay LOL the sticker is to say they put a dye in the air con system
Is there anywhere on the system that is prone to leakage? it only lasted about 8 months. I will assume when the guy arrives tomorrow, he will have an ultra violet lamp that will show up where the leak may be, just don't want to get ripped off. |

can leak at any of a number of joints with Orings, for one thing. And seal?
You normally can see oil leaking out. And yes, the UV lamp should help. Can't you refill it yourself? Very easy to do on a 134A system in the US. __________________ '97: 88K, 3xlock, Custom HD roo bar for sale, 285 MT/Rs on steelies, Hanna sliders, 851+1.5"/863/N73/N74E/SD24, ARB bull with M12, Kaymar with duals, Kaymar rack, Slee TC skid, 2m/440, more stuff, loose nut behind the wheel!) Howdy! Look for damp oily spots at all of the connections in the system. Also, the compressor itself can leak. Since the wetness is actually oil, it may accumulate dust/dirt, making it easy to locate. The slower the leak, the harder it is to locate. the UV dye may still glow under blacklight if it has leaked out, but it may be so old that it has evaporated. John
