Lower Rear Arms 91-92 vs 93-97

Went to the local wrecking yard today and found a 92 with rear control arms thinking they would be the same as my 95. They are way bigger diameter tubing, I was surprised. Needless to say I assume that they will not fit? I didn't do any measurements, just came back here to ask.

I think they are larger, but thinner. There has been some discussion about these differences on here in the past. A good search might turn those posts up.

I have no idea if they fit or not.

Thanks Doc, I bypassed the search for a quick answer... I know my bad. If they are not worth it then no sweat I will work on fixing mine.

There it is, but no mention of fit.

Oh, I didn't mean that as a "SEARCH YOU LAZY BASTID" comment, rather that you'd need to carefully word the search to yield good results. I found one of the threads, but I'm sure there were more.

Toy350-I have a lower control arm (unbent) from a 97. It's yours IF I can find it in my junk. Let me know if you need it.

Or you could just buy the Slees. I promise you will bend up any variety of stock arm in the future.

I have a cool set of HD arms made in the Intel shop by David Kwok back in the day. The tube is 1/4 wall and I have landed right in the center of it without bending. They are also about 1/4 inch longer than stock to help keep the right pinion angle in a lifted 80.

That would be great Andy, let me know if you can find it and I will shoot you down some funds. I plan on welding some armor on them for the meantime, maybe not the angle iron approach I might come up with something creative. We now have Skillet doing the "real world testing" of the Slee arms he got to see how well they hold up to abuse. I'm sure they will hold up well but I haven't read of anyone actually dragging them over rocks yet. I know Christo had to have someone using them if not himself.

They fit fine. I reinforced mine and installed them with no problems.

Thanks cmadness, if Andy can't find his and mine can't be straightened out I may have to grab those. I don't know if trying to straighten mine back out in a press is going to fatigue the arm or not, would prefer a used straight one.

I'd just get the used ones and be done with it. This is what I did to mine

http://forum.ih8mud.com/80-series-te...trol-arms.html

And after some testing on them I don't worry about them any more.
