Personally, I would start shopping for new wheels. They are lug centric, so them being egged out is going to mess with things. It should be okay with the acorns for a while, but I'd start looking on the local CL for something/anything else.

I just picked up a full set of Tundra steelies on CL for $45...

I'm going to go ahead and ask the odvious- You've already checked to make sure these aren't the acorn lug wheels, right?

Mine are acorns.

DOH!

acorns are found (IIRC) on 80's up to 94. 95-97 have the shank's. Both styles utilize the same thread pitch/ size, and are interchangable as long as you change the wheel style at the same time. Your acorn lug holes should have a steel instert in them that keeps the holes from getting egg-shaped.

Because I like confusion, my wife's '96 is stock with shank style lug nuts. My '96 came to me with after market chrome rims that could only take tape weights - and required 1/4" spacers to clear the front calipers - and had center caps that wouldn't fit on the front... Ever try to tape weight balance an MTR?

Anyway, mine now has stock '94 wheels on my '96 truck so it gets the acorns. It's the wheel that makes the difference in lug nut type and torque spec, not the model year.

Oh, and your acorns require more torque than the shank style.

I wanted to say 76 on the shanks and 104 on the acorns, but someone with the FSM handy should correct this.
