HG Preperation parts

I live in the UK and the parts here are double in price compared to what they are in the USA
So I thought that now my 4.5 has done 150k that the likelyhood of my HG going is getting greater and greater, what I want to do is start getting together all the parts needed to do the HG and also all the parts that should be changed while the head is off.

I will have to order them hopefully from C Dan, he has been great in the past shipping to the UK for me, but I now realise I need to keep each order below a certain cost, or I get taxed when they arrive in this country, so will order a few parts each week until I gather all the parts to do the HG, plus it will spread the cost.

Has anyone got a list of all the parts that are needed to do the HG and also any parts that are a must to change when the head is off.

Regards Mick.

I can give you a parts list, so to speak, but I need to know what you are interested in doing.

If it is a bare bones HG job, your list will be much shorter than some one who is interested in doing something that is much more complicated and more involved in terms of "while I am in there" rebuild.

Once you have a the head off, lots of things can be done that will be beyond the Landtank model of doing the head by merely replacing the actual HG.

There are lots of options. Much of it is based on how much money you want to spend and how deep you want to go.

If you are interested I can post my parts list...

Best.

Beno I'd be very interested in the list of a very in depth parts list if no one else is.

How far do you want to go and what is your $$ limit?

I don't really know. I have 206K on my 1fzfe and I could save up. Thing is most every part is original (motor wise) and I don't want to redo something later I could have done when everything was apart.

My list is bigger...

Though there are a few on here who could eat both of us for lunch in terms of parts replaced during HG work....you know who they are.

I kept it pretty basic. Hindsight, I wouldn't have done it at all! (It was PM) But then again I'd still be freaking out, "wtf was that noise, did my HG just blow?" "time to check the coolant, time to check the coolant,..."

Sorry for the delayed response my internet connection was acting up. Maybe why I have the double post, I dunno.

Anyway, I just ordered the belts and idler pully. My A/C is making a noise when I first turn it on so I figured this would fix it. The belts needed to be changed anyway. Other than that all is original under the hood as far as I know. Besides the usual change items like spark plugs, plug wires, air filter, oil filter..... u know what I mean.
