80 series (hdj81) locker questions

While test driving an 81 this afternoon, the center diff lock, hereforth forever known as CDL, light was on all the time (an orange light on the dash), pushing the switch didnt seem to do anything?
The front and rear diff lock switch, when activated, turned on red lights, which proceeded to flash. Now in my old tacoma, this meant they were not engaged. I backed up, forward a bit, tugged tcase lever back and forth, they still flashed?
It also took me a bit to get it into 4 wheel drive, hunting for a switch, then finally remembering these are full time 4wd. duh!

So is that cdl switch stuck? When turning the f&r locker switch on, I was listening to see if there was any kind of "click" to verify engagement (because of the blinking lights), but didn't hear anything. Should I be able to hear anything?

CDL yellow light on solid is supposed to indicate that the centre diff is locked.
CDL light blinking is supposed to indicate that the it is trying to lock the centre diff.
Shifting into low range will engage the CDL (unless disabled by 7pin mod); light flashes while locking, then is solid on when locked
RR/FR lockers can be engaged after CDL is locked; again, they flash red until they're locked and then the light is solid red

Thumbs up Diff Lockers

Here are a couple of posts that may assist you in fault finding / repairing your problems.

Not sure about the CDL but would not advise driving it around on the tar sealed roads for to long if the CDL really is locked as you run the risk of breaking something.

Cheers
