Factory Alarm arming itself - making me nuts!

My factory alarm is arming itself. I have not had the key FOB for months now and have had no problems simply locking, unlocking the doors, etc. However, the other day my GF somehow got the alarm to start arming itself. It will sometimes just go off randomly. Additionally, if I lock my doors and open them I have to put the key in the ignition and cycle it a few times to keep the alarm from going off. This is making me nuts constantly trying to tickle the truck so the freaking alarm won't go off.
Does anyone have any ideas?

Before everyone says this has been posted before, I searched.
I found the following thread that is similar to mine but there is no resolution posted.

To turn the chirper on or off you do the same as above, but use the bottom button instead.

My chirper isn't working though

I used to have the SAME problem. I still had the manual for my security system. What does yours look like? There should be like a rocker switch. Valet Mode etc...
Its easy to fix too.

Jo Moama - Maybe I misunderstood that explanation but I thought it required the key fob (2 buttons, etc). I do not have the key fob.

Red Beard - I do not know what model system I have. The truck will be back shortly. Where is the rocker switch located you are referring to? I will look through the manuals the PO left me.

On my 93 the rocker switch is on the left side of the dash between side the mirror control and the diff locker. As I understand it; although the alarms say that they are factory they are actually installed when they get to N.A. buy whom ever has the contract, this leads to much confusion for future owners that do not get the supplemental alarm manual.
I thought my alarm was a malfunctioning piece of crap when I got my truck (the rocker switch seemed broken because it is not a standard type of switch) I found the manual under the seat and all has been good ever since.

If I disconnect my battery or run the voltage down with the winch I have to reset my alarm so that it will not "auto arm" itself.

yeah, same here. On the left side of the steering wheel. What I have to do is Close all the doors, key to.. I think on mode and hold the valet side of the switch for 5 seconds. Then turn the key back to off and open "leave the car" and close all the doors.. if you did it right it'll slowly blink when you leave the vehicle.
Its either ACC or On. Try either. Takes 10 seconds to do as once you memorize it. Good luck!

Thanks for the input guys but I dont have any switches pertaining to the alarm on the left side of my steering wheel (1995). I only have the diff locks, mirrors and internal dimmer switch on the left side of my wheel.

The alarm indicator light is to the right of the wheel just next to the instrument panel. That is the only thing I see that has anything to do with the alarm. Any other ideas?

Hm, only a light? It has probably changed from when they made them in 92 and in 95.. Maybe someone with a similar cruiser can give some advice here.

is there a small thin silver toggle switch on the driver side console down by your left foot under the fuse panel on the left hand side?

that will be the switch that you might just need to play around with....

Had the same problem, I found a small button-type switch under the dash near the steering column. It was maybe 3/8" diameter with a small button to depress.

I got tired of it b/c it seemed so random so I just yanked the whole alarm system. My thanks to the installer - he used taps instead of hacking up the wiring, so I only had to solder my ignition wire back together.

The first thing I looked for was the silver toggle switch but couldn't find it. I also looked near the steering column but didn't find anything there either. I have a weird button looking item to the right of my wheel but it looks to be an aesthetic cover for an option I don't have. If I buy a new key FOB - will it allow me to control the alarm again?
