Slightly off-topic but how bout an Ivan Stewart type color scheme? This is a photoshop but I'm planning on doing this with vinyl on my 80 at some point.

I LUV it, but I would shrink the TOYOTA text down so you don't have to decal your handle. It would wear off on the handle and be a MAJOR PITA to put on.

I'd so do this! We'd have twinkie 80's though.

That's funny. I've been wanting to do the Toyota racing paint scheme for a couple of years now.
Awesome.

at the FJ launch event at Sema a few years ago my friend and I actually asked Ivan about this 80. He told us it was a non-VIN 5spd that he was given by toyota and eventually gave back to them. He also mentioned that he currently (at that time) used a modified 100 series for cruising around the desert.

Let me know when you have it. I need to come by and take some pictures of the Light Racing and shock set up. Also come by the SoCal 80s section and check in. Hope to see you and the rig out on the trail. Sick ride you have there, talk about a sleeper, schweet.

Hey Jeff, That's a sweet new ride you got there!!! I'm tossing around the idea of an 80 Series or a DoubleCab Tacoma.

No problem Jeff...Have fun with her. Don't worry about hurting it either, it's unreal the abuse the 80 series can handle. I mean rediculous...

The Baja 1000 is looking mighty tempting...the loop will be a good course for my car If I do it, you can have a section, but I get to chase in the LC.

strong work getting those pics and article on mud for everyone

I remember that article and I have been wanting to see Ivans 80 again

I believe the 80 in article was Ivans 2nd if not 3rd 80 as a prerunner. I remember seeing his 80 at desert races back in the day painted like his original truck the original white, red yellow orange black scheme

He used an 80 to prerun till the Tundra came out with the V8

That thing is way cool, never knew Ivan used to pre-run in one. I was contemplating painting my 80 exactly like this. Now I know how it would have looked.

Very cool. Thanks for posting.

The article says its a '97. The dash seems to indicate a '93 or '94 doesn't it? Maybe they retrofitted an older dash to eliminate the airbags or something?

You should, it doesn't even look dated for an 11 year old (*CORRECTION* 9 Yr. Old) graphic paint job!!! It would look even better without flares!

That thing is nice. I was toying with the idea of making a replica race truck with the old toyota graphics scheme and some total chaos long travel suspension. I never knew he had a cruiser though. I would like to see some bumpers like that. I wonder if that guy is still in business in El Cajon. It is only like an hour from me, might have to check it out.

I wonder if he would be interested in going back in time and making a landcruiser prerunner bumper, I wish the pictures were a little clearer.

I also noticed it doesn't look to have a sunroof, which is pretty rare for a US model I believe.
