Eclipse 5510 cutting out when pass. window activated!?

I've had an Eclipse 5510 head unit installed for over six months now with great results, until recently... All of the speakers cut out intermittently except for the subwoofer. And it seems that when the passenger side power window is activated up or down it will come back on and vice versa. Does this make any sense to anyone? Thanks. 1994 FZJ80, correct harness adapter etc.

Did you replace your factory speakers?

Yes, with the popular Eclipse model door speakers front and back. Factory amp was removed as well. Any ideas?

Wear the shielding off of any of the speaker wires?

I have a guess. There is a short in your door wiring of the speaker. When the speaker shorts, it is making your stereo cut out. Try this, disconnect that one speaker (both wires) from the head unit. This would require you to pull the HU out and can be a PITA but it will do the job. While disconnected roll the window up and down and see if it still does. This should take care of it.

If this ends up being the problem, then you have to either find out where the wire is getting pinched or just run new wire.

If it were me, I would fix the pinch because there should be other things going on with that.

I think you're shorting out wire in the passenger door and moving the window is finessing the wire into just the right spot so that it doesn't short.

I'd pull the pass door paneling back off and look at the wire in there.

well that makes sense. i kinda passed that idea off at first because the system was fine for so long. i was thinking it was an electrical problem somewhere else in the harness. i guess things could have shifted in the door. ill pop the panel off, take a look, and let you guys know what i find. thanks a ton for the input!

Finally got a minute to pull the door panel off and that was indeed the problem. I guess wires shifted around over time and put themselves in harms way. The window was smashing the hell out of them!

Thanks for the input.
