Of Course. The information that I posted was intended for the mass of readers that like myself had little to no idea what that thing did until I started reading up on it.

Can you imagine what the board discussions would be like if everybody had your knowledge. We'd be talking about driving remote control Land Cruisers on Mars from our backyard launches. Who needs NASA?

Yes we figured it out, thanks for the prompt return call. If your talking about the plug, it is just that. A 1" plug from NAPA to block it off. I have the benefit of being registered in the portion of our county that currently does not require smog checks.

That made me laugh, because when we put it there I commented on how bad it looked. Robbie grinned and said when I felt compelled to remove it and weld the hole up to go ahead and then I wouldn't have to know it was there anymore.

sounds sweet would love to see some dyno numbers. 4 wheel dyno's a hard to find. thinking about SC ing as well. you HAVE to run premium correct. I know if you put that much money in it why would you run anything less but ouch premium is as much are near the price of diesel. :-<

Yes, premium is a must with this supercharger. Locally, premium is still about 40-50 cents a gallon less than diesel. At this point, I think all fuel is expensive.

Thanks again. The motor is just getting stronger with more miles, or I'm getting bolder with it.

Looks like it turned out fantastic! Well done.

I'm sure he'll chime in when he gets a second, but I believe his overall impression was very favorable. I don't think he would have given me a warrantee like he did without believing in the parts that were used. You can always send him a pm to hear his personal thoughts on it.

As an update, I changed out the 8:1 FMU for a 12:1 FMU. It ads a little more fuel to the thirsty motor. Same brand FMU just a higher ratio. We also think the JE Pistons came out a little higher compression. More like 10:1.

The motor runs very strong. I have put a little over a thousand miles on it so far. Dragged the Adventure Trailer over a couple of high mtn. passes 8000 +/- and Im very impressed with it.

So what prompted the realization that you were running lean and needed more fuel?

Sorry for the delay guys. I've been pretty busy with archery season approaching.

So, far she's right around 14 at wot, but see the below post for more info. As far as temps, they have been great. I did replace the radiator with a brand new OEM Toyota during the rebuild.

Again, sorry for the delay in the responses. The answer is a simple one. Under Wide Open Throttle (W.O.T.) She still detonated slightly.

It's slight, but it's there. An example of how slight it is, I took my father for a ride (He is a former boat and car racer) to demonstrate it. When finished, his quote was "If that's how you have to drive it to get it to detonate, I would say you don't have a detonation problem".

So, a quick call to Robbie and it was decided to up the FMU. I'm adding a water/meth injection system next week and will keep you updated.

Still learning....

I'd look into an intercooler to help with that verses water meth injection unless of course a WB showed it was still a fueling issue.

As usual, your right on. The shop that is providing the water/met injector is going to look at an air to water intercooler also. I was going to keep that a surprise but oh well. The shop is Infinite Velocity Motorsports in Sparks. They build a lot of motors for D. Trent of Trent Fabrication fame.

Didn't mean to spoil the surprise. It's just that since TRD didn't provide an intercooler people automatically think it's not needed. Probably the biggest omission with that kit, but it does help keep the cost down.

Hello All:
I like the MLS HG a lot. It looks like the stuff I have seen from OEM compaines that use MLS. One thing that I did choose to use was some Hylomar around the water passages of the block side. Why only the block side, Just that I believe that this is where coolant could pass. The head needs to move and I believe that the head is softer and will create some slight impressions from the Head gasket(like a few different OEM do). Where the block is harder and will not allow the gasket to make impressions as easy.
As for the different FMU. A conversation I had had with a retailer lead me to believe that the FMU was acculmative in its action. By this I understood it to add it value of pressure to the stock one. I understood it to add a extra 48 psi underfull boost to the already 43 psi of the stock system, it did not, it only added about 48psi total. So the fuel system needed more pressure to not have detonation that Jereme was experenceing. So by going to 12 to 1 it will bump it to about 72 psi, which is where the celica fuel pump will also have it internal pressure relief(which is about 70 psi). I also did adjust the internals of the Air flow Meter, eased up the spring a bit and returned the arm of the sensor to about it orginal position. This puts the meter in almost the same area to sense it should be in idle.
Yes, I think a well designed intercooler would help a lot, it would cost more in the short term, but may aide the engine to live longer. The methonal/water injection would also help, cost less in the begining and need more service. Also cure the problem. All what the pocket book can stand.
Many different way to get to a good end product. I can not wait to see what Rick does with his Turbo. Out of any way to force air into a engine, I like turbos the best.
I am currently traveling with the family and hope to pop in and see different forums when I can. Hope all you guys are doing well. Catch you when I can. later Robbie

Doesn't the 1FZ have a knock sensor? If not or you need something more aggressive you could look at a J&S (J&S Electronics SafeGuard Indivdual Cylinder Knock Control). I'm very happy with mine (on my built 3FE which of course doesn't have a stock knock sensor). I can run more timing than stock now on 87 octane and have peace of mind. These can be kind of hard to get however, John can be hard to reach.

That aside it does sound like an intercooler would be a good investment.

Nice job!

It does have a knock sensor. The shop said the intercooler would be so far away from the intake that I'd experience tremendous lag. So, much so, that they fear I'd be unhappy and wont do it. The water/meth kit is installed and works like a champ...until I run out of water/meth.
