3* caster correction with OME heavies???

I purchased the OME 850/863 springs and the shop I had put them on told me that my caster was off by 4* after the lift. I don't have aftermarket bumpers (looking for an ARB w/winch bumper). I already had purchased the 2* OME correction bushings and then had to purchase the 3* per the shop. Has anyone else had to use 3* bushing on such a small amount of lift? I know that some guys chose to run without caster correction with this lift. I have seen a lot of scenarios on this board but I haven't seen a lot with 3* CC and my same lift. Maybe I will need to get some spacers for the front (good excuse).

Any input would be greatly appreciated!

I too have the 850/863 OME and I have not done the CC yet. My kit came with the yellow bushings which I plan to install soon. However, I think I'll go get a caster reading now so I know if I need the blues.

I recently installed the OME Mediums with no aftermarket weight added to the truck and my caster was at -1 degree on each side. I ended up going with the blue bushings and have been pleased with the results. I am now in the low end of spec at 2.2 degrees each side.

Looks like you might be better off with Landtank's plates if you stay unweighted.

You need Slee's blue bushings and Landtanks templates.

x2... I did the heavies with Slee's blue bushings and used landtanks template and it turned out awesome. The truck tracks dead on. When I did the lift I ran it for a long time with stock bumpers, I just put an ARB non-winch up front about a month ago and I really couldnt tell any difference as far as handling vs. the original one.

There are any problem if you run 3º caster bushings .. actually woul be intersting to know the real caster number on your Cruiser right now.

But anycase run more caster are not a huge problem more than a little more strees in your stering at each turn.

Actually I'm runing caster plates with J springs. I forgot add that my caster measurements are 3.34 and 3.32 with J and Slee caster plates ..

I was in the -2.5-3 degree range after my J springs lift, and after caster plates I am in the positive 2.5. Rides great, and I have only sliders as my extra weight right now. I had the blues, but they didn't get it. Long and short, if in doubt, PM Rick (landtank) and he can let you know what is up...

Good luck,

Joel

I just installed the OME heavies on my stock rig, ie, no extra weight. The front came up 3 inches and the rear came up 3.5 inches. I put the OME castor bushings on and it seems to be just fine. Tracks straight and handles fine. I haven't actually had the castor checked for the numbers though.

Thanks for all the responses! I believe my caster is +1 right now but I'm not sure. I guess I had the misconception that the 3* CC was too much but it sounds like many of you went that route at some point in your build.

I'm not sure if it would be a good idea to put about a 1" spacer (25mm?) up front to level it out but it sounds like I would still be within the tolerances. I will be putting an ARB on eventually, so I may want to wait for that before I do anything else to the height...unless I find some J's for the front...

3* on an unweighted truck with heavies is usually on the low side of the spec, just as you have seen. Adding a spacer will basically drop you out of range and be at 0* caster with the blues installed.

If you think you are going to want those spacers skip the bushings all together and bolt on some plates. You'll be happy you did.

It's almost like god himself has spoken to me...

I guess I will leave it alone until an ARB bumper magically appears on the front end. I'm sure I will be wanting J's and the plates at that point.

Thanks for all the input everyone!
