looking good Adam.
I know I've asked before, but you seem to be plenty happy with the stock gears and 35" tires. Did you consider re gearing when you did the Aussie Locker?
|
The pics were taken in a freakin construction site of a bunch of empty residential lots less that 30 seconds from my house. Just happen to be overgrown at the moment. Holy crap you guys have been bustin my balls over these pics.
As for regearing. I've thought of it before, but didn't even consider it when I did the Aussie. No time, and no money. Hasn't been that big of an issue for me so I'm leaving it as is.

My 93 has the full floater (no OEM lockers) but the R12. What month is your 93?
btw, great pics! The wife and I are looking at upgrading to a decent camera, do you think the Canon Rebel XTi is a decent one to look at?
|
I don't recall what month my truck is. Yes it has the R134a A/C.
Rebel XTi is a great starter Digital SLR. You'll love it.

Adam,
It was nice to meet you at CM. Maybe next year, you'll bring the troops as well. I've always appreciated your willingness to look outside the "box" (pun intended) for more budget minded mods, even if the naysayers don't think it'll work. You've certainly proved that many do work including the sliders which have gained a following of sorts.
Great photos and way to tear up that construction site! I also h8mud, but believe that it needs to be punished occasionally, especially since it is all but non-existent here in CO (expect for the small bit I found for my avatar).
I'm glad to know I'm not the only one who's wife has an incredibly capable grocery getter/station wagon. It's folks like you that drew me into the Mud community and keep me coming back!

Nick

Thanks. I do some photography sidework from time to time. I primarily use a Canon 30D, with a variety of lenses.

They're not ideal. Pretty good with the grease and oil, little less good with gas. They are a little porous so lighter liquids make it through just a little.
I got them because a local warehouse store had LOADS of them for super cheap. For what I paid, I don't mind them at all.

Ask due to found days ago a Nitrile black box in ebay for less than 15 bucks that claims to be safe for mechanics and I bought just give 'em a try .. have take 30 min cleaning my fingers from grease and oil ..

My setup is similar to Adam's. Those are 300 towers. They just clear the factory rack. I run 50" bars, but it looks like Adam are bit longer, maybe 58"s.

Nice RIG!, I liked the budget ideas, I was contemplating the trail gear sliders myself, but wasnt sure exactly which ones to purchse, but your writeup helps... I have a good fab friend who can do some gusseting, so I can do some sliders for probably less than $325 total, that is my kind of price , $800 for some others is a bit too much for my budget 80, considering I paid $850 for the rig itself

So I've had to deal with some A/C issues lately (had to replace the compressor/drier) so I needed to verify the manufacture date because the compressor is different on '93s since it was a transition year. Turns out my Cruiser was built on July 4, 1993. How's that for being Patriotic?
