What spring & shock kit to get?

I have to replace the shocks & springs on 's LX450. No locker just a cupholder & PHH.

's not too excited about a true "lift" (4"-6" )

Sooo, I am considering a 2" lift since this is her DD (and until we get another vehicle) it will not see offroad more than the, sometimes severely, rutted gravel roads that we live on.

Which 2" would you recommend? the Slee OME 2.5" Med or MAF 2" Med-Heavy or the MAF 2" Soft?

There is a significant price difference between the Slee and the MAF and want the most bang for my buck! Thanks!

OME Med or if you don't carry a load swapping the front springs for heavy would make it more level, would be a good choice. The OME kits will net more than 2" of lift on a stock weight rig, more like +3".

If she doesn't want a lift, simply changing the shocks to stock LC shocks will make a huge difference in the ride. They are ~$120 from Dan.

I figures that I could sneek it by her that the minimal increase in vehicle height is due to the new springs....

The rear is where it is really sagging more than the front so I figured all the springs were toast. And the shocks look to be OEM too.

Is there a GREAT difference in ride plushiness (i made up a word) between the soft & medium OME springs?

I might have to try that approach. Do you think she would notice the difference with a slee 4" kit?

Howdy! Actually, I did it the other way around. When I had my FJ40 on 35's, my wife was pregnant 3 times. I always carried a steel milk crate around in the back, and, with great fanfair, I would grab it out of the back hatch, place in under her door, and help her in/out, with a bow. She loved it!! John

Avoid (OME) soft shocks with an OME 2.5" med lift kit. I did it for a moderate lift and my intent was to keep a stock, cushy ride. This is not a good combo in my opinion as there was a lot of body roll with the softer shocks. I also have a Con-Ferr Roof Rack that when its mounted, make it feel downright tipsy when making turns.

That all said, I'm used to it now and like the cushy ride but evey now and then, a newbie will get in my truck and make a "whoooooaaaa" noise when I take a corner a little fast. I also get that in unison from my lunch buddies who are used to it but when there's 4 or 5 of us in the truck, the body sway makes it feel like I just turned a double decker bus.

How about staying at 3" and running 35's? It's not a real lift, but hey, a guy has to give up something every now and again

Oh, and it rides like buttah

I just put on my OME Heavy (850/863) lift last week. I have a stock truck with no extra weight and I gained between 2.5" - 2.75" up front, and 3.0" to 3.25" in the rear.

My 5'5" DEFINITELY noticed the lift when she tried to get in like normal, started to fall backward out and spilled her coffee everywhere.... whoops! haha She now has to use BOTH hand-holds to hoist herself in. I dont have running boards or slider though. I think sliders or running boards would make it a non-issue.

I am very happy with 2.5" OME. I have the heavy front and med rear. 850/860 springs.
I have 295/75/16. I am very happy with the ride. My tires are at 32PSI on the road. It is more tipsy in turn than the OME OEM hight, which I used to have, but I drive the car slow and don't mind slowing down. The OME OEM hight (.5") with stock tires was "sporty" in the turn, but not great on pot holes.

I strongly recommend my setup and wish I have done it the first time around.
I only have sliders and ARB front bumper. Feature plan is Slee rear bumper and winch. That may change my opinion on the med rear (860).

Don't think for a minute that she won't notice the OME 2.5 lift. That's 2.5 over stock height. Your old springs have probably settled an inch or two over time, so you're really looking a like 3.5 inches of lift over the old setup. When I put mine on, girls at work immediately noticed that it was sitting higher.

**Hijack in Progress**

Okay so I have a ARB front bmpr winch ready and the rest stock other then some trips I don't haul a whole lot unless you want to count my golf clubs My plans for Mods:

-Winch in front
-Slee Slider Steps
-Slee rear bmpr tire carrier

I want to go with 2.5 lift but wasn't sure which to got with Medium or Heavy... I want to do lift and tires this summer and do the rest slowly.

Because you had to have step ladder to get in?

I agree with wob, btw.

yea, as said, that little ol' 2.5 inch lift really is a pretty good lift. I'm running it (j's up front mediums in the rear because i have a ARB bull bar with a winch) and i'm running 35 inch tires with no rub. It's for sure noticeable.

You may have to wait forever

Of course, there are other lifts that aren't "real", but can run 35's. Buttah may be out of the question, though

I vote buy all the rest of his kit and wait on the springs to become available. Substitute OME's for the time being.
