Birfield Elimination Kit

For the good of the order...

I was doing some idle surfing on the web today looking at misc. cruiser stuff - and came across an article on a birf eliminator kit that essentially replaces a toyota birf with a stronger standard U joint setup.
Article was not written about cruisers, rather for 4 runners and P-ups.

Has anyone seen or experienced this setup for cruisers?

I think it might be better in a part time transfercase setup ( like the older mini trucks or early cruisers) but with full time in the 80's, I think the birfield would hold up better over time. Maybe if the vehicle was strickly a wheeler, I might consider it, but I think the price would scare me!!

These kits have been discussed a lot in the 40 section: http://forum.ih8mud.com/40-55-series...eld+eliminator

BLUF: They are not better.

The 80 has different birfs and spindles that a mini truck/early cruiser so the birf eliminator kit meant for a mini truck/early cruiser will not work.

Anyhow, once Longfields etc. came out the birf eliminator kit became a also ran relegated to the back of the pack.
