Real Time Valve Adjustment Help

I've adjusted the valves as per the FSM and I have an issue. As I'm working thru the valves from the front, #4 and #6 Rocker arms are not sitting the same as all the others on the valves. Whether I'm adjusting the 1st or 2nd batch, they're extremely tight and take approximatly 10 turns to loosen the rod to spin it but after that, I still can't slide the feeler guage under them. I've searched for info and I cant find anything yet on this exact problem. If I turn the motor a 1/4 turn at most, this all changes and the rockers look like all the others but are extremely loose. And the FSM doesn't say this is allowed, playing with the cam position to adjust the valves!

It's a 92 with 173K and I've had it approx. 4 months. No smoke, dosen't use oil, it does have a slight stumble all the time wether in or out of gear and I'm working on that as well. The valves are noisy and it's the first time Ive been in there. I dont know the previous history (it's been neglected a little)but I've been working thru all the baseline items and this is a little more than I know about. Any ideas or directions to look?

I figured it out yesterday, I couldn't get the 2 valves to close off using the FSM method so I started over doing each cylinders valves at a time and finally got it right. Runs much quieter now!

Glad you got it. And I am sorry, I saw this and thought about bumping it and telling you that if you look at the bottom of the page you can see who's signed on to this forum. IIRC there wasn't too many people on when you posted it.

Look for your peak times and don't be afraid to "bump" it. I'd say out of this whole forum, 80's is the most popular and the third page is really like the 2nd, as in, thats how fast it moves in here.
