ARB/Winch fit questions

I have an ARB Commercial that is designed for a Warn 8274 winch. I am in the process of rebuilding an 8274 that I scored a few weeks ago and I had mocked up the lower housing and drum with the fairlead and it brought me to question something.

Why are the lower mounting bolts (where the fairlead goes) not centered on the hole for the cable to pass through?

If I mount the fairlead in those holes, the cable will rub on the bottom of the opening.

I looked in The Front Bumper Thread and noticed that most of the bumpers are like that, ARB or others. What do you guys do? Drill the hole lower on the fairlead?

Why are they like this?

Thanks,
Dave

I just bought a new commercial bar for my 8274. You have to drill new holes in your fairlead to make it work, its the first thing it says in the paperwork (which you wouldn't have). I'm surprised they make you do that.

I believe you drill the new 1/2" hole 25mm below the original Warn hole..centre to centre.

Let me confirm that but I'm pretty sure its right.

Could you scan and email the instructions to me? Or just copy and snail mail?

I thought ARB USA quit importing the Commercial bar. Nice to see they are still available.

I had the empty housing in there. It fits really nice. I'll definitely post pics when done.

I'll see if I can find the paper work tonight and I'll scan it tomorrow for you.
The 8274 fits really nicely in there, like a glove. I'll see if I can get some pictures up.

What is your email address?

-Jeff

The bolt pattern for your 8274 is: 10" X 4.5" you will have to make your holes accordingly. Clearly, you'll have to change the one pictured.

Also, when your done...you will notice that your fairlead has an opening approximately 3/4" tall.

The fifth layer of cable will rub on the bottom roller.

The fourth layer comes out about centered, the third nearly the same, then the second and first will rub the top roller.

Post up your 8274 when you are finished rebuilding it, we'd love to see it.
