Arrow Wiring question for AUX. lighting.

I have 2 light force lights on the front of my truck, and I'm thinking of adding a 3rd light in the middle...kind of rally style

My question is wiring the 3rd light....do I need a whole new harness or is there a way to feed a 3rd light off the original harness running to the 2 exising lights so that they all work off of the same switch?

I'm an idiot at the electrical thing, any help would be appreciated.

Thanks!
Jeff

You should be fine just running another lead from the relay (you used a relay, right?).

I got a good deal on the Light Force wiring harness so that's what I used.
I'm thinking of running 3 of those HIDs from Kragen.
Would the Light harness be able to handle 3 of those?

Depends how many amps the lights pull.

How big are the wires (gauge)? How many amps can the relay handle?

This is where is goes a little foggy for me...

Light Force Harness has:
Resistor protected 30 amp relay
Water proof blade fuse holder
Extra long cables (for larger vehicles)
All required terminals
Can be POSITIVELY or NEGATIVELY switched to suit some imported vehicles (refer to instructions)

These are the HIDs...not much info:
7" HID Off Road Light with a wide and very bright 35 watt Euro-Beam Light pattern. Features include a durable, hi-impact ABS housing with a red anodized aluminum trim ring. These have an internal starter and ballast. Easy two wire installation. Each light includes a clear polycarbonate protective lens cover to protect the tempered glass lens from rocks. The wiring harness to connect to the included blue back lit rocker switch is also included.

35 watts...that should only draw around 3 amps per light...

You'll be fine with your current harness.

Thanks Lane,
So to make this easy for me, I just extend the two leads from the relay to the light and wire them up like the existing lights?

I'd make sure the relay is rated properly for the total amp draw. Most relays have an amp rating printed on them. Add up the total amp draw from all three lights. Should double check your wire gauge too but if the mfg of the wiring harness supplies a relay that will handle your requirements one would "assume" the wiring is up to the same task.

You 240's should draw ~8A a piece so you should have ~14A of capacity you can use, otherwise it is a simple deal to use the same switch to run another relay.

I am around off and on depending upon what is going on up north, shoot me a pm if you need some help.

35W HID's run about 3amps ea = 9amps for 3 lights.
Actual draw is anywhere from 35-41W but basically 3 HID's = 1 LF240.

No problem using your LF wiring harness. That is the advantage of HID and LED- very low power draw.

Keep in mind HID lamps draw a lot of amps for a short time when you turn on them.
