The bulb I messed with was the left brake light bulb. As for the right side, it works properly all of the time.

hey akarilo,
i had the exact same issue you are having. it turned out to be the rear light harness was jammed down into the fender and was being pinched. i ended up having to replace the rear harness.
good luck

I still need to get to this...
What are the differences between the "New" Slee harness and the "Old" one?

From what I remember reading some of the units were prone to failure. Headlights stop working.

Hmmmm, I wonder, A) When the changes were made, B) If I can easily identify if I have the old or new, and C) when I actually got mine. I think it has been a couple years at least.

I believe the new harness has a 5-pin relay vs the 4-pin on the old. Apparently the old relay is prone to failure and hard to source. Luckily the pins can be removed from the connector that plugs into the relay, so it may be possible to convert from the old to the new by finding a new relay and connector. This is still on my list of things to do

If you call Slee they can tell you. It was an intermittent failure due to manufacturing issues on some of the early ones.

From my experience with the old-style Slee harness, it was not a manufacturing problem on Slee's part (it was well-made like all of Slee's stuff), but rather the relays themselves that seemed to have problems. The new harness uses automotive-style relays which (in my experience thus far) are much more reliable.

I'll go dig it out at lunch today to see how many pins are on the relay.

The old harnesses had a relaly with the number 804-1A-C1 on it. It looked like this.
It was a automotive relay, just not a very common one. We decided to replace them with a more traditional 30amp relay that is easily found. The old harnesses can be depinned and the sockets changed. It is just a matter of how comfortable you are with figuring the circuits.
The new one uses a more traditional style that can be replaced with a Bosch or Tyco unit, rather than the generic one we supply. The reason for the generic one is cost. Tyco or Bosch relays are a lot more than generic ones.
All new harnesses that started shipping this week is easily identified by the black sheathing vs yellow on the older harnesses. Auxiliary light harnesses always had the more traditional style relay.
PS, Hayes, you were have the types swapped in your post above.

I must have a very old one. It takes the early relays and it has some funky little black box that has a blue, grey, and a white wire going to it in the area of plug "G" and it has no plug "H"

Can anyone tell if the plugs have been upgraded on the new harnesses, as opposed to the old ones that could encounter corrosion problems? I would like to do this upgrade to boost my HIRs brightness a little more, but like others have expressed, not if reliability takes a hit due to worse-than-oem

I have only ever seen the new ones so I can't really comment other than to say I love this mod and I've had zero issues with it myself.
