as I said above, I don't think it's smart to put out your legal strategy out here for the Seller to see. Plus, mentioning people by name on the Internet in this sort of context is not a good idea either unless you've figured out exactly the pros and cons. __________________ '97: 88K, 3xlock, Custom HD roo bar for sale, 285 MT/Rs on steelies, Hanna sliders, 851+1.5"/863/N73/N74E/SD24, ARB bull with M12, Kaymar with duals, Kaymar rack, Slee TC skid, 2m/440, more stuff, loose nut behind the wheel!) I contacted the state DOT. They had a complete record of the title transfer and gave me the name of the previous owner.
Also the CarFax report had listed the dealership where the car had been serviced. They also had information. Turned out to be a good deal, despite my worries. The car was owned by a middle aged guy in PA who used it as his daily commute. Good Luck CD Post number 55 is a great thread of info. __________________ ...you can't make this stuff up... I contacted the dealership that handled the transaction but they wouldn't give any information. I'll give the DMV a call and see if that provides any further information.

Please explain exactly how this deal went down. If I understand you correctly, this guy was posing as a private seller, wasn't he? But now you're saying there was a dealership involved in the transaction? Please explain. If your seller was a true, bonafide private seller, there should have been absolutely no involvement of any dealership, UNLESS money was still owed to the dealership and the lien was still held by them. Or unless they do things VERY differently in Georgia, which I doubt. He should have just handed you a title, since you were going back to SC with it to register it there. Where was the original ad posted? This is really starting to smell! __________________ "I love the smell of diesel in the morning" 1991 HDJ-80, 1HD-T stinky, Walbro, Racor, Donaldson, Warn winch, HUGE ho-made front bumper, OME 2.5", 33's, ARB Locka.
