Official 80 Series Factory Snorkel Group-Buy Thread

21:00, 03/13/2008. FGHANEM has decided he would be able to give it another go at helping us out. No promises made, but has said he would pick back up where he left off and continue working with us on the group buy. Please folks, be freaking respectful here. Many thanks to FGHANEM for reconsidering!

We've got a mud member that is trying to work out getting a bunch of sets of OEM 80 series snorkels from Dubai. No price is set in stone as of yet, but we do know the purchase price out of Dubai is around $135 USD. (Most folks that've signed up have suggested ~$200 USD as their maximum spending allowance including shipping.) Deal of a lifetime folks. Post up if you're interested.

As to what years these work on, if the fenders are the same from 91-97 and the intake is on the RH side, Then it should work. Can anyone who's more versed on the body differences across the years of the 80 chime in here?

BTW, for all those wanting one, I just wanted to bring it to your attention that on a US spec 80, the stock antenna motor is directly in the way of the lower assembly of the snorkel where it enters and runs inside the fender. The antenna motor MUST be removed and/or relocated.

For more factory snorkel info and images:

Factory Snorkel arrived!
snorkle-options-top-cap-intake-whatever-its-called
Toyota snorkle
60-series-snorkel-part-numbers-anyone

For ease of operation, this group-buy will be limited to 80 series snorkel sets only.

Please let this thread stay on target for the group buy.

Also, I'm wanting to go with a 70 series pre-filter on mine. Anybody else interested? (You can see the 70 series style pre-filter on the 80 series in the pic below). If it seems to make things too complicated, then I won't worry about it, but I like the look of this a lot better than the 80 series one. I have no idea if they are rated for the same air-flow, but obviously somebody is doing it like this. Maybe I'll just get one of each.

Part number list for complete 80 series assembly:

17730-17020 (x1)
53707-60010 (x1)
53773-60010 (x1)
53207-60041 (x1)
52853-60010 (x1)
53208-60010 (x1)
53209-60030 (x1)
52805-60011 (x1)-

96111-10880 (x1)
90119-08961 (x1)
90119-08869 (x2)
90269-06006 (x4)
90119-06593 (x1)
90119-06594 (x2)

Many, many, many thanks and to fghanem for all he's done on this.

Also many, many thanks to all the mudders that've responded with shipping info and suggestions and even volunteered to help out with shipping!!!

Since this thread is getting gigantically long, I've taken over this post of mine to use it for the official, most current list of those interested. When first contacted, the OEM parts supplier in Dubai had a total of 5 complete sets in stock (one of them is being purchased by fghanem, our mudder that's working the Dubai end for us)--so that leaves 4 other complete sets. The supplier has been asked about back-ordering a supply of these parts and due to a national holiday there, we will not know more until possibly Monday, March 10, 2008.

This is just me, but 'operational and shipping' costs of up to $80 would be fine w/ me. Seriously- anything around or under $200 to my door and I'm WAY in.

Re-confirming, I'm still in!

EDIT: I'm located in Venezuela, but mine is to be shipped to Miami. I'll handle my own shipping to SA, otherwise the cost would be so astronomical it wouldn't be worth it.

Geez. We really need some one over there to check on shipping for us... Is there some sort of equivalent to the USPS in UAE? I estimated shipping costs through DHL and it was over $300 bucks for 1 package. Fedex was over $10000 for 6 packages. Seriously, I must have been doing something wrong though...

Correct, $1 equals 3.67 dirhams,
i already did the calcs, so net price is $134 or so, i think the unavailable part 52805-60011 can be repalced by another part 52805-60010 for $3, as for the missing bolt, it can be adapted easy imho.

Fouad,

Is this price quote from your brother-in-law?--or from the company? Is this a dealership we are talking about? And are you indicating we should work directly through them rather than yourself? If so, can you provide by PM some contact info?

Thanks!

this is crazy rates, shipping shouldnt be that much and by a large margin, just give it a few days, to see who's in,

then i can work out the logistics of it all. i will try to facilitate it, i don't wana be holding anyones money.

to clarify things, i am doing this pro-bono, i don't wana be held respobsible for anything. i will provide info only.

no it's straigt from the company, it's not the toyota dealer al-futaim, but rather an auto parts store i dealt wth once, and my order was exact, and very fast turnover.

i can vouch fr this much only,

otherwise about group order or what not, and shipping they seem to be honest, but i provide info with no further liability on my part.

it's a risk you guys have to take, as any venture.

wow, i'd be in for that price. i'll have to do some research and see how difficult this would be to attach to a 5.3 vortec v8 airbox.

Shipping this order as air cargo in a wooden crate may be the best solution. Air freight shouldn't be that much relatively speaking and shipping time will be under a week. ABF, DSV and UPS are some options. Shipping these as a package or multiple packages could cost a small fortune.

ok i just got a reply, the bracket 52805-60011 or 52805-60010 (a replacement) isn't available from them. if u want i can order the parts and see how it will be fitted without the bracket, or if it can be fabricated.

otherwise everything is available, so deduct about $4 from the total price to be $131

"Hello Fouad

even this item is not available.

Here's a list matching the part numbers on the image below to actual part numbers. Bummer 52805-60010 isn't available...

17730 = 17730-17020
53707D = 53707-60010
53773A = 53773-60010
53199B = 53207-60040 and 53207-60041
17912B = 52805-60010 (or 52805-60011)
17912D = 52853-60010
53208B = 53208-60010
53209D = 53209-60030
