I don't think I'm the only one that saw this coming, it just got too big.

I didn't throw my name into this one because I don't like the way these install. Funnky shaped squares going throug the fender? Weird bolt adapter bits? Having the intake above the roofline and being the highest point on the truck to take tree hits?

I think I like the Safari design better. Round holes, factory antennae stays without great difficulty. The holes to cut are cirucular.

So, I want a Safari Snorkle. Anyone else have their apetite up to the point of pursuing this through in-US vendors to see if they want to get us a pile of them at a reasonable volume realated discount?

The facotry ones are neat because they're factory and they're rare here. They look like an installation nighmare, the intake is ET with a bad hair day and the installation puts the air intake plumbing horizontal inside the fender. So ugly they're cute.

So... if there is interest or if any of you are interested in leading the effort to meet with the dealers & etc..., start a chain for it.

Hello guys,

Thank you guys, I had no hard feelings whatsoever to begin with (not from you), I am cool now, and without further ado’s and what not’s , I am really cool now. Actually, I felt bad for leaving you all good guys hanging in mid air in regards to the snorkel kits; so if it’s not too late I can still try to make it happen.
However, please let the money issues be for now, I will not ask nor will I hold anyone’s money. We will not discuss money, until the right time comes (when we hear of availability) and even then I will not be handling it to ease anyone’s (my) concerns, I have too many responsibilities as it is.
Back on track, there is still no news on availability, but he will get back to me by Saturday-Sunday, in regards to my order as they ordered it from Oman (I spoke to him earlier today), and I really felt bad so I asked him about the rest of the snorkels, and he assured me he’s on top of it, so we keep our fingers crossed.
In any case, I don’t think anything will materialize before mid April as I will be leaving on a business trip from March 27 to the 15th of April to Indonesia and later I will be touching base in the states (LA).
I am sorry if I disappointed anyone yesterday, but I was really furious, special thanks to those that PM’ed me there concern, it really made it all worthwhile, and i took it all in stride.

No more posts from me though. If it happens, great. If not, that's cool too.

I'll just stay out of everyone's way until everything is worked out.

OUTSTANDING

I have no interest in these but I'm glad your back and am glad you didn't let one ignorant person alter your core personality. In my opinion that would have been the greater loss from this whole thing, the snorkels are just material possessions.

bought the snorkel

I just bought the snorkel from Dubai, since i live in Dubai and to tell you the truth the price that fouad proposed is exactly what I paid. I have no idea how to install the thing. I will be going to the body shop on Thursday
Any ideas how I can make a template or how to proceed with installation?
Thanx

I am getting mine soon via mail, i will let you know what i think regarding setup, but your best bet is to uninstall the whole fender out and take measurements, but this is me. i would think there should be a template for it, but for the good of me i cant find it in the EPC, i will check the Japanese EPC, see if i can come up with something.

On another note, did u get your kit from Al-futaim or from papyrus, or another source.

Start by taking the fender completely off. There is no other way that I could come up with. After that start at the factory air cleaner for a known position on the hosing and work back from there.

Mutaz,

If instulation will cost you too much i advise u to buy a new pre-holed fender for the snorkel part #53801-60081 costs about 650 dhs or 180 dollars, but if it's like lebanon peanuts, then let them work it. The best cost effective solution would be a template.

good luck with it, and do post pictures, also can u do a favor, for the guys, can you call al hamadi, and see if they can get 60-70 snorkel sets.

Guys if the snorkels become available, the best method is to ship by Emirates post will not cost more than 50 bucks per set insured.

If this goes through and there is someone in the North east I can probably help out with a template once that snorkel is installed. I work on machines that will cut exacting samples out of SBS. high quality poster board, and they could be used to mark out the fender without removing it.

If this all works out(Again major thanks to Fgnanem for all your help with this) I live in Gt. Barrington MA. and there is at least 3 or 4 others from NE on the order list. I'd certainly assist any way I can in getting a template made. If all these members end up with them. It would be a great service to all. Not to mention the fact that I'm real nervous about cutting a hole in her fender...

excellent info, and the measurements are metric ,

i hope mine gets soon, it's shipped already, and still no news on availability.

I will try to source an Omani supplier, or If we have mud members from Oman, seems this the source of all the cheap Toyota parts.
