i give it a few more days, before we get a final answer, and i think shipping by Dubai post is the best option everyone will get his to their door, no need to split in US and no further problems with customs. I will try to make it happen once we have a solid word on the availability.
Thanks for the update fghanem. I'm down for whichever option has the lowest ratio of work/money or money/work. Something that takes a TON of work on a couple peoples parts, but is super cheap, might not be the best option. I know we're all gonna owe you a dinner and beverage of your choice no matter how this all works out in the end.

fghanem, can you also have them check stock on the 70 series 1FZ pre-filters? Part # 17730-66010. I've decided to go with the one that matches the engine I have--I'll call that an educated guess.

If anyone else is interested in this, know that we have no idea for sure which one fits (or if none fit or if all fit) of the three 70 series pre-filters. I suggest ordering the 80 series pre-filter along with the 70 series one just in case the 70 series one won't fit. Although, there is confirmation that the 80 series pre-filter is available at US dealers at around $70 bucks or so...

Yea along those lines...

I hate to bring this up, but you guys do realize we're talking about on the order of US$14,000 changing hands here, international transactions, etc.

Not to impugn any of the principals here - but that's alot of cash without alot of safeguards that I see.

Might there also be issues with transferring that kind of money internationally?

I don't know if this is a possibility considering everything is over in Dubai, but if everyone goes paypal, I know it is insured up to at least $200. Also, it would be the responsibility of the individual to send the money.

Not sure you can PayPal $$ to Dubai, but even if you can I wouldn't count on them to "insure" anything. Their claims process is a joke IMO and once they've sent the $$ on and collected their fee, they would prefer to never have anything to do with the transaction again. Much more expedient to just dispute the charge with you CC company.

What's up all! I just wanted to post something up on here regarding what happened in Kuwait regarding the factory snorkel inquiry. I sent an email to the local dealer (Al-Sayer) and they never replied! I went to them yesterday and they did not have a clue about my e-mail! This morning I got a call and I was informed that they do not import snorkels for the 80series. They import snorkels for the pick up in the pic below.

They said that the snorkel package cost KD 230 which is about $847 but it won't fit on the 80 series!

I contacted Al-Omar, which is a company that sells Toyota parts and they said that I was better off getting the parts from Dubai directly like they do! That way I don't have to pay their mark up!

An alternative which was stated before would be to just get Safari Snorkels which go for a market price of about KD170 which is about $626! The price would surly go down cause of the bulk buy but that's up to you guys!

The safari Snorks are a lot cheaper than that here. But part of the draw for me was that this is the OEM toyota system, not too many of them are floating around. (However, if this group buy keeps growing we may soon see many more Toy Snork's on the road!)

it would be slightly more than purchasing a SAFARI snork at retail prices- which would include shipping. I already PM'd Mot about this and I'll be getting the OEM snork either through him or Dubai- whichever proves to be easier.

Well I definitely can see where you're coming from fghanem. I saw the post and immediately called that guy out on the rug and so had Doc. That guys statements were completely, WAY out of line. I--as well as others I'm sure--definitely appreciate all you've worked on for us all. Please don't let this put a bad taste in your mouth about IH8MUD, it's members, or Japanese, or Americans or anyone but perhaps that one guy. There's wacko losers among us all, and there's good people among us all.

Definitely let us know how the fitment of your snorkel goes. And if by any chance, you'd be willing to reconsider, please let us know.

-Ferg-

Yeah- I was hoping that this wouldn't happen, but as soon as I read that post I knew it would.

I tried to get the thread back on track by reporting the post and getting Romer to delete it- but the damage was already done.

I'm sorry that you read that.

Thanks for trying to help us out though- I'll be getting the OEM snork anyway- just have to pay a bit more now.

As for the money issue, I was willing to pay for all the order, or at least find a way, but not anymore.
And for the ignorant dude from Japan (landcrusher80) who has taken it way out of context calling me and thestallionq8 terrorists is at a minimum infuriating, and the others that have insinuated about trust issues as well, not as blatantly, but they did nevertheless. What’s disappointing is the fact that I have so many Japanese friends, and I have nothing but good stuff to say about them, so I will not sink to his level, by name calling, or going into stereotypes.
Anyway I think some people have a hard time accepting pro-bono it’s not in their dictionary, but alas, I am out for good.
If my post upset you please except my apology. I didn't mean to infer anything but was amazed at the number of people involved and the staggering logistics of pulling it off. Last I checked it was over 60 people and the shear size of the order would seem a challenge for even the most seasoned people who have done this before.

With so many people looking for this to happen I hope you reconsider.

My apologies as well. My concern was that I saw alot of effort on the shipping, purchasing, and other logistical aspects, and very little on the financial aspects for what was turning into alot of money. So I was hoping for some more discussion of that aspect. No offense was meant to the people working this - I'd have raised these kind of questions of any body trying to pull this off, other then maybe an established and well known business.

In my opinion, the money issues have to be right up there with the rest of the logisitcs. But in the future, I'll keep my mouth shut and just sit out of a deal that I'm uncertain of, as it seems my post may have catalyzed some much more asinine posts further down..

I was in the garage all day working on my rig and didn't catch the deleted replies but after reading fghanem's reply I'm some-what shocked that people on here would say such a thing! Anyways, we tried to help and I guess most people appreciated that and it took one person to mess things up! The world would be a better place if people could only get along a little beter!

Well this really sucks, So much time and effort have been invested by a very few people, and then someone has to mess it up.. thank you so much for all of your time and effort, I was amazed at how willing you were to help all of us (with no benefit for you) and I am very sorry that you were personally attacked!!
thanks again for the help and know that NONE of the rest of us think anything but good things about you!!
Sorry..

I would have loved to have seen this plan get off the ground. I was watching the thread just to see it develop and see everyones input and ideas into the international exchange. Sorry to see it fall apart.
