ABS cycling

I got my 80 on the road after the full Slee 4 inch. I screwed up when installing/bleeding the brake lines and let the resevoir empty. It took a while to get everything pumped back up. Got the brake lines bled out and everything felt great. Take it out on the road and the brakes feel really good (35" tires), the only problem is the ABS cycles at really low speeds when comming to a stop. It cycles in parking lot speeds and if you are approaching a stop. Nothing at high speed or anything like that, it stops/slows fine at higher speeds. I am not sure if maybe there is air in the ABS pump or something else. Anybody got any fixes or ideas? I'm not sure how to get the air out of the ABS pump if that is the culprit.

Jack

that complaint is very common on certain model gm trucks. the cause is that the wheel speed sensor housing begins to rust and pushes the sensor away from the reluctor ring. it only cycles the abs when you are slowing down(5mph and lower).

Thoughts on your 80 are possibly you bumped one of the sensors enough to break the plastic and shift it away from the reluctor ring. If that is not the case you may pull the sensors(easy to do) and look on the end of them. if there is any debris(metal) on them clean them off and clean the mounting surface and reinstall them.

I have the same problem, but mine started after a wallow in some really nasty mud that got into everything. I cleaned everything out and it went away, but now comes back after I've been in deep water. Don't know why. I gues i need to take everything back apart and see if I missed some mud somewhere.
Ih8tmud, but that's all we have around here. No rocks, just sand and mud.

X2 on the rear sensors....just pull them and make sure all the metal shavings are cleaned off.

Make sure the sensors are clean and that you can see the teeth on the ABS ring through the hole. Could the sensor be not seating all the way in?
