Will these Tacoma wheels work on my 80?
They're supposed to be 16x7 from a Tacoma. I assume with 4" backspacing.
Any reason why they would not work on my 80 with 265/75/16 or 255/85/16 tires?
Any reason why it's a bad idea to use wheels without the caps? (I'm assuming the hubs won't fit underneath them)
Thanks.

They'll fit. They'll also need spacers to fit properly. If they are truly a 4" back spacing wheel you can do without the spacers for DD duty. If you are going to wheel it on those wheels you might look into a spacer.

I use the Tundra steel wheel version of this for winter wheels. 5 years with no problems and no center cap. Slightly narrows the track, but no other effect.

If it's 4" backspacing, it should fit like factory, just 1/2 less on either side.

Am I mistaken that 4.25" backspacing with 7" wide wheels would put the tires on the ground 1/2" closer to the centerline of the truck than 8" wide wheels with 4.5" backspacing???
4" backspacing would make the wheel track the same as OEM 16x8's right?

That is what I gather, I was under the impression that those were more like 5" back spaced though.

It fits fine w/o spacer. 265/75/16, flareless (looks better)and I no longer owned the rig.

Aaaarrrggghhh.... I'm about to pull out what's left of my hair!
I keep seeing that Taco/Tundra/4-Runner wheels are 16x7 w/4.25" backspacing... But the guy who has these for sale just sent me this photo, which sure looks like 5.25" backspacing to me!

That's what I always thought they were. Spacers?

Spacers?
Nah, I don't want to mess with it. I'll probably just cough up the money for a set of OEM steelies from CDan. These wheels were $150 for the whole set of 4 though, so I was really hoping they'd work without getting too far into the "square peg in a round hole" thing.
4" - 4.25" backspacing I could live with, but this is a full inch off from what I need.

That is not where backspacing is measured from, as I understand it.
see: https://www.rsracing.com/tech-wheel.html
I think these wheels are fine to run on the 80.

I did not include my wheels when I sold my rig and went to my yard to check the BS. It's 5.25" BS.
