| Tie rod ends I need tie rod ends, don't mind a few extra $ for cdan quality and service. I'll be ordering an OME steering damper (or two), should I just get the tie rod ends that way too? Probably Slee for OME.

| I've never ordered 80 series tie/relay rod ends, but if they are like all previous TLCs, each end will come with a rod. Dan can tell you.
SOR indicates the tie rod ends are $45 each, which is probably list price. The relay rod ends are $50 and $54.

| I just picked up the whole heavy duty kit from Slee and I would do that again.
Hardcore stuff at a good price. Plus the rods are galvanized so they look really kewl.

| Help?? Need Part Numbers? So I tore the two rubber boots on the Tie rod ends, passenger side, where they attach to the knuckle arms, when I was doing my front axle service....
Can I replace just the rubber boot part?? Or do I have to replace the whole tie rod end? (which means having to go thru the whole alignment process as well???)
How do you reinstall a new boot?
How do you get it full of grease? I cant believe these things don't have zerk fittings?
Cdan? can I get a part #?

| Gotta buy the end to get the boot, sorry. The ends are greased during assembly and are not greased thereafter.

| Chris.
I thought that we'd arranged a similar deal just a few weeks back when I originally tore up the boots. I then PM'd you again when the forums changed, but never heard anymore from you. No worries, I just wasnt' gonna bug you about it, I need to get this done.
With that little spring inside there? how do you install a new boot and get the grease inside it? It doesn't even look like I can take the end apart with standard tools? So if thats necessary me thinks I need the whole end?

| Got your PM Chris thanks.. You folks a Marlin are really top notch..
Mabey this can be added to the FAQ?
I'm sure I wont be the last one to take that stupid tie rod fork to those poor rubber boots...
Am I going to be able to put the new boots on the old end, full of grease, with the little spring actually holding it on correctly?
I still need to check the FSM...
Just concerns me that toyota only sells it as the whole complete TRE...

| Your boots are on their way.
Just fill them with grease, slide the boot in place, then slide the spring on. Now your ready to bolt on the rod end. |

| I just did a couple oil changes. The boots on my wife's '97 are all shot, and the joints are loose. The boots on all mine look good, and the joints are tight. Same mileage. I suspect the joints will go bad about when the boots are in need of replacement. Sound reasonable?
