Definite tools / spare parts list (for FAQ)

In reference to recent threads discussing tools and spare parts, I think it would be nice to add a "Recommended Trail Tools and Spare Parts" list in the FAQs.

Maybe we could settle on a "basic essentials," "overland essentials," and "hard-core crawling essentials" lists if we can't agree on one overall list.

How about it?
Think we could all come together and create a definitive list of tools and spare parts that should be carried on your average 1 to 10 day trip?

Thought I'd bump this one back to the top, seeing as there has been recent discussion of this topic...

If you would like to complile such a list from other threads and organize it and post it Romer or myself would be happy to add it to the FAQ if the quality is there.

I've been thinking of putting together a "trail box" as a permanent accessory to my truck. That way my garage set stays put and I'll have what I need on me at all times and won't forget anything at home.

the definition of, "is," is...

It all depends on how you define essential...

"basic essentials" Cell phone and a AAA card.

"overland essentials" A buddy in another vehicle.

"hard-core crawling essentials" A trailer and tow rig.

Aaahhhh, I though you were going to do all the work for me.

OK.

I will compile such lists and present them here for general support and/or thrashing.

I carry whatever will fit in a medium size toolbox for my daily driver. I had a 200-mile commute, usually at night, and I carried a big toolbox. I carry most of what Gringo says, I'd have to pull it all out and inventory it to be sure. I'd never get it all back in. I know I've got a giant screwdriver and giant Channellocks in the bottom. Starter fluid, jumper cables, tow-strap and shackles. I've got to get some smaller shackles, these are too big to fit in most car's tie-down hoops.
