so if im driving through a parking lot and fly over a speed bump, my abs brakes activate... whats up with that?

i noticed it happening before the 2.5" lift as well as after.

im on the gas, with no brakes going over the speed bumps.

Hmm, thats strange. So how long do they stay activated? Does the light come on? Can you hear that characteristic abs chatter? How much does your truck slow down?

PS

We need to hook up soon. Slow down with the mods you bastid, I cant keep up.

ha ha... Karl thats funny.... my wallet is hurtin with all the fun stuff on the truck.. but dam i like how it looks and drives. I still need to press in the new CC bushings.

ok... i dont notice that the abs light comes on.. the typical rumble of the abs lasts maybe 2 seconds, i dont slow down that much, then it kicks off till i hit the next speed bump..... i do notice that the steering becomes a little stiff as the abs is on.

karl im working in the Nw, and living in marda loop if you ever want to try and catch up, just drop me a line.

How fast are you going? I fly over them and my abs does not come on.

That's weird, my ABS will go crazy when braking over bumps at lower speeds... but I've never heard of ABS activating without even being on the brakes.

Something's seriously wrong if this is true. Are you sure yer not on the brakes as you bump???

Marda loop is only about 2km from me. Things are kinda crazy for me this week, but I might have some free time this weekend. Let me check with my Organizational Effectiveness Minister (aka wifey) to be sure I have not overlooked something.

I am feeling the same economic pain as you - getting the supercharger was a serious kick in the wallet.

Yes, I too have to question whether it's the ABS that's activating. I didn't think it was possible for it to activate if the pedal wasn't pushed, but I don't know for sure. Is it possible that it's something else making noise?

So, are you hitting the brakes or not?

If you aren't hitting the brakes, I don't think the ABS can physically work. The pump modulates pressure, it doesn't create it.

If you are on the brakes, then maybe your shocks need work to keep the wheels down. How fast is 40 km/h?

If you are not hitting the brakes, then it is likely something is binding in your front end, thus the hard steering.

I'm pretty sure this is normal. When I'm coming to a stop and I hit a rough patch of bumps, the ABS activates. Has done it on my '97 since I've had it, and did the same on my '93 before it. It sounds like hill has his foot on the brake.

I find that I can avoid this by taking my foot off the brake right before the bump and start braking again right after.

Same here. If i'm slowing at all, and hitting good size pot holes or speed bumps at any decent speed, my ABS activates for about 2-3 seconds.

Are you 100% certain it is the ABS? Is the ABS light coming on in the dash console?

If it is a big speed bump, the wheels going over the bump need to move faster than the wheels on flat pavement. Do you have the center differential locked or unlocked?

I could see that, where one tire hits a hole or bump, it may cause enough of a difference in the readings between the sensors to activate the system. Don't know how that would work where both tires are hitting a speed bump (if you're hitting it dead on).

My advice - slow down.
