Factory Lockers worked when needed.

Just thought I would chime in on the periodic factory locker discussion.

When driving gravel back roads I frequently shift to Low Range and try to engage my front and rear lockers just to "exercise" them. They do not always engage. I listen for the "click" as they engage and disengage as well as watching for the indicator light to stop flashing. Sometimes they go and sometimes they don't.

I figured they were just one more item on the list of projects.

Then, last week, my brother and I ran a local trail that has a bunch of shallow water crossings with some mildly gnarly exit climbs. Got a bit jammed on one of them and wheels started spinning. I reached down and turned on the rear locker for grins and "snik" she locked right up and the cruiser walked right out of the jam. So I ttried the front too and "snik" no hesitation at all. For the rest of the run I could switch 'em on and off at will.

I'm not saying they don't still need some TLC at some point, but maybe you just gotta REALLY use 'em to get ' em working the way they're supposed to work.

Got some photos in the Trails section if anybody is interested. Not real hard core, but cruisers in the woods is all good.

You'd be surprised how well they lock and unlock when the conditions are super slippery

They seem to work very quickly when the opposing wheels see a difference of a full rotation or two...

Sumthin you can't really do on any road surface or even loose gravel

But lift a wheel on the rocks or hit some mud and snow and you'll see how fast they work
