Lexus LX-450- LexusAllTerrain

I am the proud owner of a Lexus LX-450, I have been exploring for a couple of years, usually i do camping mix with hotels.

Just a couple of months ago my LX-450 turn 100k and it was time to let go or to do my PM.

I have been very please with this vehicle and since I have never own a vehicle with over 100k miles, I was sceptical to keeping and doing all the PM and Mods I have been thinking on doing!

I finally made a desicion to keep this vehicle for another 100k ( I hope ) and do some PM and Mods.

1. Old Men Emu Suspension Medium
I have the Yoko's Geolanders AT+II tires 285's
2. Light Switches for lights
( Yellow Top Optima Battery )
3. ARB Roof Rack small ( to carry fuel and water )
4. Safari Snorkol
5. Slee Short Bus Bumper
6. Warner m8000 winch
7. Specter gas containers 2
8. Specter water containers 2
9. IPF lights 968cs 4
10. Slee Sliders

I have the first three done, and my questions are as follow!

Am I correct in choosing the IPF 968cs lights to install on the roof rack?

Would the Specter gas conteiners be safe to carry on the ARB Roof Rack, and I am planning on installing the A/T Gas Carriers with locks?

Need some help and what are you thoughts?

My first thought:

CONGRATULATIONS!!! You just broke it in.

With proper maintenance, these beasts will easily last you 200,000 miles and more.

Congrats on reaching 100K...I should get there in my LX in the next month or so

Question though...I don't see a single PM item in the list above

PM I have kept with all the maintance, however the big one or hardest for me would be the Front Differentials or Birfields.

Spark plugs and wires, rotor and cap will be done next.
Followed by all hoses and belts, evendough they are in very good shape, i did them at 60K.

Transmission red fluid was done at 85k including the differentials.

I love the Slee step sliders. Excellent function at the mall and in the rocks. Do those first, or at least when you lift it.

It really depends on how dirty you want to get. If you hire out everything, maybe a new vehicle would be better.

I purchased my '94 with 185,000 miles and after two years I am at 197,000 miles and have about $2,000.00 more in PMs that I plan to do myself. I have spent about $1,500.00 so far in just wear items (tires, belts, hoses, fluids).

If you do not plan to buy new, then I would stick with what you know and try to learn even more about it .

Riley

edit: After re-reading your post, you have already decided to keep her. I would focus the first big chunk of money on the PMs, then start to dress her up after all is happy.

I have kept up with the PM so now the question that I have is which lights should I buy for the top?

Would these IPF 968CS ( 2 pairs ) be ok. for installation on top of the ARB Roof Rack?

How about the gas containers--2 Specter in Olive color for gas/2 for water all these in 5 gallon with A/T carriers bolted to the back of the ARB Roof Rack?

My rig has 127380 miles on it and it still runs!

As for the IPF lights you selected a great pair but I might go with the 868cs! Why? I think the rectangular lights look better on an 80 series!

I have IPF 800XS on the bull guard and they look much better than the 900XS, but that's just my personal opinion!

Only one way to find out is to install the roof rack then go to the dealer and put up the light and see which one you like most then install them!

As I said, I prefer the rectangular ones cause they match the front lights as well as they just look better! :P Another reason why I would put rectangular ones is cause they space would be used more efficiently and the light would create a wall or curtain when they are all on! One line of lights with out spaces between them!

I have install the ARB Roof Rack hald size 43"x49", it comes with mesh floor and air deflector, it weights 120lbs. and will hold up to 220lbs.
In city driving I can not tell I have it on top, in the hwy at 65 miles per hour I do not hear any wind noise!
At 70 miles per hour i can tell there is some wind noise however I need to turn the radio off in order for me to hear the wind noise.
At 75 miles per hour I can hear wind noise.
This roof rack is made to last, it is very well made and I will recommend buying one!
I installed the roof rack on top of my old oem roof rack because I did not want to take it off. It will clear if you set the ajustable feet to the highest mark!
I am presently wating for my Nato gas carriers and gas holders, I did order them in olive color!

Overall I am very satisfied with the ARB Roof Rack.

Here are some pictures of the Rack.

They are here!

My NATO Gas Carriers and can holders are here.

They are great quality, the carrieres come with some rubber mountings so you mat not get any rattles, the gas containers come with some nice pins, and they are very high quality, I order them in Olive color, because I did not like the red color on top of my roof.

I will mount them on the ARB Roof Rack and will let you know how they perform in the real world.
Overall I am very happy with the quality of these set up!

Thanks again SOCALFJ

Might as well go NATO all the way!

I just got my driver's license suspended for a year so I won't be doing anything to my rig anymore!

Here are some pictures of the gas comtainers on the ARB Roof Rack, I wanted them to be facing the gas tank so that I may use the Super Syphone to pour the gas out!

Your thoughts?

I would slide them closer to the railing! In other words don't put them in the center, but put them on the corner!

When you get the water containers you can put them on the opposite side!

I just placed the order for the ARB Winch Bumper, I need some protection on my trip to Alaska, so that is why I decided on the ARB Bumper vs. the Slee Bumper.

When it gets here I will have it color match to the LX-450 I hope it looks nice, I hope to have it install before the month is over!
I will post some pictures of the instalation!

Leave it black, it looks good Check out Romer's.

I'd run it that way first and then if it bugs you spend the $$ to have it color matched. Can't imagine that will be cheap though. Super easy to install and take off unless you are putting a winch on at the same time. Don't overthink it like I did.
