| 02 sensor?!?!? Alright, I've posted numerous times before about possibly needing a new o2 sensor, and up until about three days ago, that's what I thought I needed. Somehow the problem fixed itself , but sadly now there are two more problems . Usually what was happening was I would start out in first gear (obviously), then it would skip second and go straight to third, and unless I stopped completely, it would stay in fourth gear, no matter how slow i was going. So about three days ago, I was driving on the road to my friends house (a rather large hill) and magically, the problem went away. After an hour or so, it stopped working again. I returned the next day, to the same hill, and the problem once again was resolved, (in the exact same spot). I tested this spot 5 or 6 times, and it starts working again every time.
ANYWAY later that day, i was enjoying driving my car which actually worked correctly, and as i was taking a left turn onto a busy street, at about 30 mph it got stuck in first gear, and i revved the piss out of the engine. I took my foot off the gas for only a second, and it acted fine after that.
Now for some reason, if i reverse for over 15 feet (i.e. my driveway), when i shift back into drive it will start off in fourth gear, and it's really annoying.
Loose connection? new o2 sensor? i'm not sure whats going on, any suggestions?
thanks,
Conor

| How in the world did you get the idea that your tranny's behavior has something to do with the oxygen sensors???

1) I don't think Dan would appreciate you speaking for him.
2) According to a previous thread started by you, you've already replaced the O2 sensors: Overdrive Light - Tranny Kaput?
3) Also in the aforementioned thread, we (including me) started to help you diagnose your tranny trouble, and you simply let the thread die.
WTF!?!?!?

Curtis | Look, I'm not sure what has been asked in the past, seeing as this is my dad's account he passed down to me along with his 80...and unfortunately its problems. So any discussion about o2 sensors before this thread was not me.

| This rings eerily similar to a thread just a little while ago. Would this have been a post-OBD (1995 or later) you might be getting a CEL that said your transmission solenoids were non-functional.
Since it's a 94, I smell the same rat, but fewer clues. It sounds to me like the wiring harness that runs past the EGR valve down to the transmission (in a round-a-bout sorta way), that as it passes the EGR, the outer insulation melts and temporarily and eventually permanently shorts/opens the wires going to your AT solenoids.
Check, extremely diligently, that wire harness. Kind of a PITA to get to, but do it yourself or pay some good tech to do it for you. You might find a solution there.
Dan.

| Bogman,
Just go revive the other thread where you and/or your Dad were asking about the tranny. There was plenty of good information there that folks will need to see to be able to help you further.
