Cool Slee arms 1, Borla muffler zip....

Last weekend at Thrill On the Hill I attempted a less-than-perfect line on a nice rock shelf in the arroyo in Coyote Canyon.

My first pass caused me to hang up on the rear control arm frame brackets AND the driveshaft....

I backed off and Robbie stacked a couple rocks for me. I then re-attempted the same line, bad idea. I kicked the nicely stacked rocks out and landed hard on the muffler, drive shaft, RH frame rail, RH control arm and RH slider.

The Slee arm suffered a loss of powder coating, the driveshaft got a tidy ring and the Borla got squashed....

Them Slee arms are tuff bastids.....

And don't forget about the RF flare and fender... or was that another ledge?

I think that happened in the exit chute. The impact mark on the flap cap was quite concentrated and the flare mount was cracked. There wasn't a small enuf rock there to fit the impact wound.

I shoulda took the damn caps off........

It's the body damage that kills you. Mufflers are cheap in comparison.

The fender is an easy fix. The Borla is discontinued....

BTW, Dan, thanks for all the help with the switches and connectors. I finally got it all right, and I'm feeling good about it all being bullet proof.

You'd replace a perfectly good muffler for that wee love-tap? That's not damage, that's CHARACTER!

It's changed his perfectly tuned exhaust note from a sharp to a flat. Har.

I don't see anything out of the ordinary.
That is exactly what my stock muffler looks like
Has a little deeper note and slight leak
So glad I did not replace it before GMTR
I'll be interested in what you endup replacing it with.

Nope, that's a self-clearance-adjustment!

Dan, it sounds like you need a new spotter, it's never the driver's fault right?

Thanks for sharing the Moab story with me yesterday when I was ordering my parts. Someday I hope to have some stories of my own, but for now, all I can talk about is how someone cut me off in a round-about and that my wife found out that the LC will not fit in the downtown parking garage with the Yakima box on top...

Are you sure staying green is the best option? White is so much more environmentally friendly and very easy on the eyes ! I guess a white LC with green door jambs and engine compartment would be somewhat an eyesore...

Thanks again for the wealth of knowledge you provide (not all 1994 Land Cruisers are 80s - I did not know that) and good luck with the repairs ahead.

Riley

[hijack]I think Tools is quoting indirectly from a thread on the RS board. [/hijack]

I bent my drivers-side trailing arm bouncing on the ledges at the entrance/exit of Cliff Hanger at CM.

I've got a backorder for the "new" Slee arms. I hope they're as boffo as the old ones.
