| Boosted EGTs? I had a meeting with the guys building my turbo manifold. Their big question was what I expected to run for EGTs. This was to factor in expansion of the exhaust manifold and what would need to be done.
So does anyone have an idea what this might be?

| 1500ish deg driving down the highway at 80mph on a warm day. boosts easily past 1600 climbing that grade.
but the motor seems to be doing great (200'ish) with intercooler and oil cooler |

| thanks. They wanted to calculate expansion over the manifold and compare it to that of the head. This will help them out alot.

| yeah, mine goes from 1200-1450 regularly. I've manually adjusted the boost from 4-psi to ~8-9-psi and haven't had that change.

| 1650. scary by what standard? original HG and I drive her daily and lots of highway. little ricer motors go way hotter on a constant basis and my 1fzfe laughs at these silly engines
now when I post my recent catastropic spidle/hub failure you will see scary. cut it off with a die grinder
what is your temp turbo? |

| In my '88 turbo Supra I often saw EGT temps pushing 1750-1800 here in the AZ summer. The 7MGTE obviously isn't the same motor, but 1600-1800 seem consistent with other vehicles I have experience with.
Edit: I should note that this vehicle was running ~18 psi. If I recall correctly with the turbo putting out the stock 8 psi they were about 100 degrees cooler. |

| The question of what "normal" S/C EGTs were came up a few years ago. At that time, i don't think anyone provided as much info as is already in this thread--so thanks
But I was wondering it again just this weekend. My old pyrometer died and I had just replaced it. Used the same bung, so the only difference would be a different type of probe and different meter which now goes to 2000* vs the old 1600*. The new meter reads a tad higher (maybe 50-100*) over what I was used to seeing.
On flat road pulling at about 65mph, it would typically be at 1100-1200* when I was pretty sure there was little or minimal boost being applied. When I was under load going up long hills, the highest I saw was 1575* at which point I got whimpy and laid off the pedal a bit (I figured since the old gauge only went to 1600* there was an implied max safe limit there somewhere ). I'd have to say on average under load I was in the 1300-1400* range, and when not under load in the 1100-1300* range.
