Angry Sick of RUST! Any hub / center cap ideas?

Hey all,

I'm always on a quest to make maintenance tasks less of a headache, especially the "bling" related ones. Besides the wheeling advantages, I like black wheels for their ability to run on crappy salt strewn winter roads in WA without having to either swap them twice a year, or spend 5+ hours polishing them come spring (will never own aluminum rims again...).

The blackies I put on last summer came with some fancy shiny chrome center caps that have rusted quicker than any I have ever had. (I think they were Ultras) So my question is, are there any hub center caps out there that handle the elements better, or maybe some black powder coated ones that won't corrode unless chipped? I saw something kind of like that over at wheelersoffroad.com and am still waiting to hear back from them.

Thanks!

Wire brush and sand the hubs, and paint with gloss black from a rattle can. Don't bother with primer.

Repeat once a year or as needed. If you are careful with mounting and dismounting the wheels, they stay looking pretty nice.

Where are you? I'm on Five Mile Prairie north of downtown.

Clean The Ones You Have Really Well, Then Rough Up With A Scotch Brite Pad. Go To Walmart And Get Some Rustoleum "hammered" Black. Spray On. Looks Awesome. My Wheels, Lightbar And Chrome Bumpers Are Done With It.

Thanks for the ideas guys! I don't know why the rustoleum idea didn't even occur to me.

I'm out in Suncrest (Nine Mile'ish) I noticed a few pics of the ORV on your site. I was just out there on my quad last week. I work out at SFCC so I drive by it pretty much every day. Makes me want to play

We should meet up for wheeling some time. (Have you seen the rock park they started putting in out there?)
