A440F tranny w/ HF2AV TC?

Does anyone here know if it is possible to use an HF2AV transfer case with an A440F tranny? Will this require an adapter?

I'm in the early stages of exploring a diesel conversion, and I want to see what is possible with existing parts and adapters.

I am pretty sure they bolt up just different driveshaft lengths. The diesels you want came with non electronic A442's that for sure bolt right up.

lagwagon- Correct me if I'm wrong, but I was under the impression that all A442Fs are electronically controlled, and that that is the major difference between the A440F and the A442F (hydraulic vs. electronic control).

This is a good question for Rodney at Extreme Trans but I am pretty sure the 12ht's came with a440f's and and 1hdt's had a442f's. The difference in the diesel is the torque converter(different stall speed) and the valve body. I think there was some info on the Mark's Adapters website.

Well, I haven't found where I saw the last info but this is from the Wholesale Automatics website
MR.ORTO: I am from Costa Rica, Central America. I have a Toyota Land Cruiser, gasoline, 1991, HDJ80, automotic, A440F. I am stalling a motor 1HDT, Diesel, transmission automatic. The motor with the transmission was sent from Japan. This engine and the automatic transmission (A442F) is 1994. The computer was not include with the eletric installation for the automatic transmission, I mean A442F. I would like to know if the computer for this automatic transmission A442F of my diesel motor (1HDT) could be used for a gasoline one or it (A442F) has to be only for diesel. And I would like to know Mr. Orto if you have this computer for the automatic transmission A442F with my engine IHDT, 1994 and how much does it cost in US dollars. Thank you very much for your help. Douglas Arias
The A440F transmission does not use a Computer control unit and the A442F can not run with out one. I would bolt the A440F transmission including the bell housing and convertor up to the new engine as your car doesn't have the computer to make the A442F work!

If I pull my V/C t-case this weekend out of my parts truck, I will mount it on an A440F out of my '91 to make sure.

Thanks for the info, Lagwagon- I just emailed Rodney about it and he seems to confirm what you are saying:

"I can do a Fully Reconditioned Heavy Duty Extreme Hydraulic A442F with
Reconditioned Diesel Torque Convertor.

This transmission would bolt straight up to the transfercase but you
would need to make a front adaptor for the front of the transmission so it
will be able to bolt up to the engine" (I'm looking at the Cummins 4BT)

I would greatly appreciate it if you could take a look at yours and let me know if different driveshafts would be required.

Hmmmm......
