Load Range E tires on an 80? Experiences?

I'm toying with getting some FJ Cruiser OEM steel wheels (17") and some SSR Radials in 35x10.50" for the 80. These are only available in a load range E. What are your experiences with wheeling this kind of tire?

Is lack of sidewall flex significant?

How low of a pressure can you run on the trail?

How low do you have to go before it's even noticeable that it's under-inflated?

The rig has ARB/winch/dual batts up front, and rear bumper, on OME heavies. I'm not terribly concerned about ride quality on pavement as this isn't my DD, but I do drive it to the trailheads, and on some longer camping trips.

I understand that the FJ cruiser wheels have the same backspacing, but are 1/2" narrower than stock 80 wheels. Correct? Anybody actually running them on their 80?

Sounds like a great idea to get some skinny's under the truck. Don't remember how many plies the SSR have, but wheeled with my father-in-law's rig with LTB's and we aired them down to I think 12 psi in Moab, they just barely started to show some sidewall "bulge". I think the tires your looking at would be awesome on the 80.

It's gonna be rough and noisy with E rated tyres on a 17" rim...

My toyo M/t's are load range E on my daily driver. No noticeable problems after I deflated them down to 38 psi. The installer had pumped them to the maximum pressure rating on the sidewall. Of course this rating is the maximum pressure under heavy X load. Not the pressure to run when you aren't loading the tires to the max rating. Most commercial tire manufacturers for larger trucks have a chart that you use to inflate the tire to based on axle loads. I can't find one for LT tires.

I use chalk lines to find a proper inflation point for my tires... gets 'em right in the sweet spot.

Due to the 16" rims as well, alot of tires are E rated. I have them on both of my rigs. The last time out I took my Toyo's down to about 18lbs. Mostly gravel and rocks and they did great. On the street I run about 30 lbs.
