| Gearhead in Memphis??? All -
I have a bit of work to do on my 1997 FZJ80 and could use a bit of help on the front-end and a few other items...including brakes, etc. If there is someone in the Memphis area that might be interested, please let me know. I have ordered and received all the parts from Slee and CDan and now I am just waiting to dig in. I am about to move to Hong Kong (where I am currently) and need to do a bunch of PM work before I say goodbye for awhile, no I am not selling it. I can provide any incentives for work (beer, cash, pizza, Jack, you name it or a combination there of). I was going to use the dealer but, would like to do some of this myself with help.
Thanks. |

| WHat's your time frame?
What exactly are you interested in doing before you leave?

| I am heading to Hong Kong the first week of March and I get back next Friday. I have the following parts and goals:
Rebuild Starter
Front and Rear Brakes
Front and Rear Brake Lines
Front Axle
Change all Fluids
Change all Belts and Hoses (including PHH)
New Light harness (Slee) and auxillary light harness (Slee)
Replace Rear Passenger side brake light housing
That about wraps it up...the Toyota dealer wants to roll about a $1,000 for the work and I bought about $1,200 of parts. I have worked on a ton of cars and trucks but, I have never worked on my LandCruiser as I just bought it about 5 months ago. I really want to get the truck in tip-top shape before I leave so that it will be good-to-go whenever we (wife and I) come back to the States. Thanks. |

| Probably a good two to three days of solid 10-12 hour days or so...depending on if the truck is rusty or not. Then factor in things like flushing cooling system, bleeding brakes, test driving the thing a few times to make sure things are kosher, etc.
The starter you could do on your own. Two bolts and two wires and the thing comes off. Then about 1/2 hour of replacing things and bolting it back in.
Do you have a garage and tools? Air? Heat? (very important)
Brakes would be done at the same time as the front axle rebuild. Same with the brake lines. That's one really long day.
Belts, hoses, and fluids are another half day.
Light harness is about 1 hour worth of work you could do yourself.
Brake light housing--5 minutes.

| Yeah, I plan on knocking out the starter, brake housing, and a few other things myself. Even tearing down everything in advance. The truck is in absolutely great shape. It has just over a 100,000 on the clock and I bought it with 92,000. The PO was a soccer mom that only drove it in inclement weather (she had several other vehicles to choose from) so the undercarriage is in great shape. I have tools, air, etc. I am going to do the work in my wife's uncle's garage - well more like a hanger - where he keeps a tractor, 4-wheelers, and his Harley. I am not sure if it is heated, but it is super nice and well lit. |

| I'm in collierville and have a 97. Just got the birf DVD and was thinking about doing that work within the next month along with 100 series pads and new rotors. I can assist if you kinda know what you're doing. No incentive needed for me, is there room for two trucks? PM me with when you were thinking about working on it.
