Help with Toyota part numbers

I just purchased some replacement parts from a vendor. I think they may have sent me the wrong parts because the numbers on the parts don't exactly match the numbers on my old parts. The parts are for a 1988 FJ62. I posted this thread on the 60 Series Tech page, but I repeated it here just in case there are any Part Numbers Guru's (i.e. C-Dan) who might be on this page, but not the 60 page. Please forgive me for the double post.

My old Igniter Ass'y has one tag with the following part numbers:

89620-14410
131100-4891, perpendicular to those numbers is the number 489.

The new Igniter Ass'y carries two tags with the following numbers:

89620-60100
131100-5360, perpendicular to those numbers is the number 536,

and

19070-61080
101311-5360, perpendicular to those numbers are the letters Qr.

The tag on my old ECM had the following numbers:

89661-60010
175000-1001 12V

The tag on the new ECM has the following numbers:

89661-60020
175000-1260 12V

Can anyone shed light on these differences? I know the ECM numbers are very close, but they're not an exact match and I don't want to mess up anything electrical/computerized.

Thanks!

"The tag on my old ECM had the following numbers:

89661-60010

The tag on the new ECM has the following numbers:

89661-60020
175000-1260 12V"

Thanks, JohnnyC. I'm hoping to find out if I can use these parts or not. I don't think that just because both older ECM's were superseded to a newer part it confirms that the older parts are interchangeable. The new part may be compatible with both old systems, but each old part may not be compatible with the rest of the system. I hope I'm explaining my question properly - I'm getting confused just trying to frame the question!

By the way, back in college I had a '65 Spitfire. It was fun car (when it was running right )

My information indicates this is not the case. The 89661-60010, which is replaced by the 60011, is for California emissions vehicles. The 89661-60020, which is replaced by the 60021, is for federal emissions vehicles.

The most recent numbers, 89661-60011-84 and 89661-60021-84 are remanufatcured numbers and both are discontinued.

It may be possible to substitute one for the other but as far as Toyota is concerned they are not the same.

Thanks, Dan. I was really hoping you'd chime in, but I didn't want to bug you at work with a phone call. Do you know anything about the coil/igniter ass'y numbers I posted, and their interchangeability (or not)? I don't want to put that in and screw up my ECM (if that's possible).

Thanks,
Joe

The status code for both is "D" on Dealer Daily. This indicates discontinued.

My information shows the 89620-14410 being replaced by the 89620-22420. that number is valid. 89620-60100 is an invalid number (at least in North America). It could be from another market.

Many thanks, Dan. Is the 89620-22420 available, and at what price? I may end up having to buy new. I don't think I want to take a chance w/non-USA parts. Living in the People's Republic of California, I'm not sure I even want to use a non-California part. Not only am I concerned about damaging my ECM and/or my distributor, but I still need to pass a smog inspection every other year.

There is stock of the 89620-22420 available. Toyota's published list price is $469.18. A mudder would pay ~352 bucks.

Thanks, Dan. I'll be in touch if I determine that I actually need that part.
